Caused by over torquing at time of riser install...

lol at blaming the weight of the rear view mirror....

only proper repair here is a full replacement...

I appreciate all the info but I'm currently at Safelite getting the entire windshield replaced. I will take some of the fault for the breakage but I'm going to take the mirror foot and glue it above the one on the new windshield that way I can attach the rearview mirror without having to use the riser. I'll give the riser away to someone at a meet or something.

You can do that, but keep in mind that little black spot on the windshield where the stock foot attached is there to give the mirror epoxy something to cling to. Consider a light acid etch on the area you want to attach the mirror to in its higher position. If you attach it in the area of the defrost dots you might also have an issue with them heating up and causing the epoxy to crack when you use the defrost window button.

Dang I didn't even think of that. I was going to attach exactly where you said, the dots.

You can try it, was just thinking if there were tiny bubbles in the epoxy the heat of the element may cause them to expand and split the epoxy but I have no experience to prove that possibility. Just a consideration.

Another benefit of that VHB is its heat resistance.

    :notsure:

Either way curious how it turns out keep us posted.

Correct about the dots. Eventually the adhesive will fail and the mirror will dangle from the wires. BTDT.
BTW, I also needed a new windshield after I installed the riser. I even used 3M sticky tape on the back. However, if you look, the riser is machined square while the windshield has both up/down and left/right curvature so the only spot the riser touches is the the very top, outside edges. A big glop of Goop or EF6000 silicone on the back of the riser would be more useful.
You can move the mirror up a little more without adapters. Set the mirror as high as it can go, then remove it. Look at the bottom ball swivel. Use a dremel or sharp knife to make a halfmoon relief into the ballcup so the stem can swivel further upward. This will get the mirror up almost to the overhead console.

Say what? You do know thats not a heating element for frost right? That's would cost thousands of dollars......it's just there to break up sunlight so it's not so bright around the mirror area.

Eurocopter 365n3 i used to fly has a glass windscreen with heating elements ran all through it in front of the pilot. That piece of class was over $20k to replace in a bird strike. That thing would get hot fast though.

i have that mount on my tacoma and colorado.
no issues on the tacoma w/ a ram mount w/ scangauge adapted to it.
on the colorado, it fell off twice, had the mount reglued, and the windshield cracked at some point right at the mirror mount and i guess with the heat in the summer, the crack spread.
both trucks just had a basic mirror. i just figured i may have over tightened the one on the colorado.

Here's the new windshield. I'm currently epoxying the old shoe higher up.

I dunno why you think my answer was BS. These words are from the link you posted

"while the dots behind your rearview mirror keep the sun from your eyes".....
Unless you were just linking my answer cause the original post didn't make any sense to you either

There have been a few high end cars that had a heat cable along the bottom edge of the windshield. I worked on a Lincoln once that had 2 alternators. One of them had a sticker on it that said, "Caution high voltage". That one was just for the windshield.

That called a "heated wiper park" and still not a heated windshield. It is to keep your wipers from freezing up.

I did a search. There a three vehicles currently available with heated windscreen as an option, a jaguar, a Mercedes, and a LR discovery sport. Not sure of the details though
