    It actually feels really solid.

Yikes, this is awful. Last month, my bf installed this on my trucks. Should I take it off?

I would double side tape or epoxy the top to handle some of the weight. I recommend gorilla glue epoxy. I used it to attach a new foot for my mirror and it's holding strong months later.

Thank you, thank you! Just to clarify, I bought the BirdDog riser, and it does not have the round ball. (I forgot what it's called)

A few mods here and there and counting....
The ram mount. Just put some 3m mounting tape at the top to help distribute the weight. Don't crank down on the hex screw either. Just snug it.

One million thank yous! I'll do it right away tomorrow. Oh! Just one more question; Do rear view mirrors of the newer Tacos have technology built into the mirrors? Sorry if they is a lame question. My truck is an 06, so there's it's just a mirror. lol

We have the good old fashion manual dimming mirror. The later gen Tacoma mirrors has built in back up camera monitor and all that jazz making it slightly heavier.

This just happened to my 2010 sport with the backup camera/dimmer, no riser just plain OEM @ 120k

The truck has definitely been wheeled and taking through many whoopdiedoos out in the dez. I was shocked at how heavy the mirror was when I disconnected the electrical.

sounds like I’ll just have to replace the whole windshield :pccoffee:

I had the same thing happen as OP. 3 days after installing the Clearview riser. Over torquing the riser screw would not cause this because the button is taller than the riser slot. Nobody in San Diego would touch the glass to repair, replace only. I'll slowly build it up with clear epoxy them paint flat black.

I installed my button up in the frits, raising the mirror to where I wanted it. The frits are the same material as the "paint" under the button. I used mirror button adhesive kit from 3M. So far no issues.

for the record, when I told Clearview about the issue, they immediately made me a happy customer. I do NOT think their product is defective or poorly designed. They are aware of only 2 instances of this happening.

Yeah, I wonder if there was a bad batch of glass. Happened on my 2012 when I had about 70k miles on it. No riser either.

    damn...

I’ve been Rollin no rear view mirror with a golf ball divot inside the windshield for over 6 months now. One of these days I’ll cough up the cash for a replacement windshield, or cough up glass from it breaking and making me go blind.
