2nd Gen '15 OR XCab - the Type B rearview mirror (auto anti-glare, compass, 3 HomeLink buttons): is there anything interesting or useful to do with this piece of hardware? The manual explains that 3 HomeLink buttons can operate garage doors, gates, or Rolling Code (?) but none of that applies to me. Is there any other device that these buttons could be used for? Any ideas of replacing the entirely useless cardinal compass with something like an extremely useful exterior temperature? (I'm honestly at a loss as to what possible purpose a compass is in a passenger vehicle, and equally baffled that an exterior temp reading is not there instead - it's not like this is a sailing ship or airplane that needs to plot courses... if you're using a compass to drive your truck you've got much bigger problems at hand or maybe crossing a vast, featureless desert)

Stock (99.999%) OEM Bed Floor Mat, Front Bed Rail Cargo Net and hooks, Auto-Dim mirror w/Compass and outside Temperature display, TRD Pro Grille, Uni-Filter air pump modification, WeatherTech floor liners f/r. (winter) OEM All-Weather floor mats (summer).
You can change to an auto-dim mirror with outside temperature display only or one with both compass and outside temp display. You'll need to run a wire from the interior to the front of the radiator for the temperature sensor. There is a vendor in here: "Bob's Mirrors" that sells multiple flavors of these mirrors and has a custom wiring harness available to accommodate the temperature display feature. On my 2014 everything was plug-and-play using the factory harness and connector above the headliner near the mirror, but I had to run the wire for the sensor to the front of the truck. He has a pre-made wiring harness that includes the sensor wire and connector that is long enough to go all the way to the front of the radiator It's one of the best mods I did to my truck.

I mainly wanted the auto-dim function and outside temp display, but the compass is nice to have as well, especially off-road in thick woods.

I did Bob's mirror setup and it works well.
