Not sure about outliving, as you could hit 105. :D

But I'd say it should make an easy 20 years.

The BIG unknown on the 3rd gens, because they haven't aged enough yet (as in years, not miles so much) is the electronic gee whiz stuff. If in a number of years systems start to puke, the availability of replacement parts could be limited and will be pricey, and the availability of folks with the diagnostic skills to deal with it will be somewhat limited as well.

If anything we've made has a shot of going the distance it's the Voyager probes.

They'll quit functioning soon but as long as they don't hit anything, there's a chance they'll still exist at the end of the universe.

I am old too, but according to my mother, I was born "old"..lol

Think this through, the first gen came out 22 + years ago and I see lots of them every day in the salty Northeast- and lots of love for them here at TW.

Those rigs won't last forever, as was said previously- those owners will eventually migrate to 3rd (or even 4+gens), since pickup truck love runs deep in my opinion.

As technology moves on, these electronic gizmos will fail, but workarounds will be created to serve the needs of the enthusiasts, I am sure.

However, I know that no one can say with absolute certainty what's going to happen tomorrow, so 20 years from now is everyone's "guess".

15 years timing belt, water or stearng pump, exhaust and something bigger
20 years body work transmission or engine rebuild.

7 years the gen 4 comes out and you sell trade or crash it or carve it up as a rock crawler.

1 month on TM and you jack it up, put awesome tires and drive it like a maniac into the woods.

    • First thing to go will be your eyesight, as will your TSS.

    • Second will be your feet will hurt a lot, and your ankles will swell, as will your tires.

    • Your hair and paint will fade.

    • Your continence and oil seals will leak.

    • Your knees and CV joints will need replacement.

    • Your muscle strength and compression will weaken.

    • Your may need Viagra and new OME springs (suggestion by @Tcomaboy :D)

It’s all downhill from now on for both you and your Tacoma, good thing is you can ride off into the sunset together! :)

Lol consumer reports. They were relevant 50 years ago. Not now.

People see/ believe what they want.....I think most Ridgeline owners swear by Consumer Reports.

And anyone butt hurt by the 3rd gen is going to grab onto anything they can to justify their "special feelings"......

Cut a small hole in the plastic and mounted the antenna to the drivers side windshield wiper mount using an old Harley Davidson blinker bracket. 1 1/4" drywall screw is holding door handle together nicely.

Honestly, no. The only thing I miss is the individual tire pressure readout....o_O.....I have my little 22re 4x4 MT 5 speed for pickup duties, it does everything I need.

My 2011 made it 64k and the rear end blew in a couple of inches of snow while operating under normal conditions. Sad . This newer one should beat it. If not I give up on them. Time will tell.

I currently own two Tacos, a 1st Gen and a 2nd Gen. I am the original owner of the 2002, and the second owner of the 2013 Gen 2. 1st Gen has 240K miles on it, and the 2nd is right at 45K. I am REALLY looking at selling the 2nd Gen and moving into a 2018/19 very soon. Never had an issue with either Tacos. I do religiously maintain my vehicles. I firmly believe that is the key to keeping any vehicle trouble-free for years. Change the oil every 5K using only synthetic and following the recommended service intervals for the other various items.

As long as you maintain a Taco, I see no reason for it to NOT hit 300K miles.

FYI. Consumer Reports has become a corrupt joke. I wouldn’t trust anything they print.

BBB is the same, sponsors can pay for their A rating.

There is no end, it's still expanding. That's why it's black, there is nothing for light to bounce off of and travel back to your retinas. Ask Neal Degrassi Tyson...he will explain it better
