i just recently bought a 2018 off-road and as many of you already know they come with stock bilstein shocks. With that being said I would like to lift the truck and do some moderate off road if but nothing as crazy as actual rock climbing and big obstacles like that. With that being said I wanted to know if it is possible to rebuild/build-up these shocks to something that can handle all that and still give me the full 3” lift? Or would I have to just replace it all anyways and start fresh? If I did have to start fresh I was wondering everyone’s opinion on the OME BP-51 system. Thanks and I look forward to the feedback.

Nope. Look at the rebuild schedule for icons , Kings, the more race shock the more rebuild .

Save your money on the expensive OME shocks and go with Billstein 5100s. The perfect “cheap and cheerful” option for the 3rd gens that is a true performance upgrade, and many times better both on and off road than the stock yellow+blue billsteins. If you are not doing intense off-roading a lot of the benefits of the higher priced options may not be noticeable, and your on-road handling may actually suffer. The 5100s are a great option for your described uses, and can be specd in longer travel versions to accommodate lift.

I was OK with the stock OR shocks until I (nervously) upgraded to 5100s. Now I realize how cruddy the stock shocks really are. Guys who swap out these shocks for anything better know it was money well spent.
