I ordered some 265/75/16 load range C Cooper AT3's for my 2013 Off Road from Discount Tires ($75 off President's Day sale + $60 off for using their credit card).

They asked me if I want to rebuild the TPMS for $5.00 each. Showed me a display that had the TPMS sensor - they swap out some O rings, etc.

Is this something that is needed on a 2013 with 23,000 miles?

^Yes. The sensors should be rebuilt every time you mount/dismount the tires, otherwise they may leak.

Yup, I only have 1200 miles and they said a lot of times the seals break when dismounting. I think they want more than that for mine. but Im told theres a battery in there and with your age Id say change that too.

the rebuild kit (also sometimes called the service pack) includes (usually, its different for each vehicle type) an o ring, a new nut (visible at the base of the valve stem) a valve core a valve cap and sometimes some other parts. this should be replaced every time the tire is dismounted, even if not moving the sensor to another rim (otherwise it may leak or seize into the wheel). also, the battery in a tpms sensor is not replaceable, once it dies the sensor needs to be replaced
