just finished rebuilding my 3rz 03 Tacoma 2.7L. Everything’s back together and got ready to start it, noticed the clutch cancel light didn’t come on so I tried to start it with the clutch In and it won’t turn over. It’s obviously electrical but what? I’m double checking all the wires now and also going to look at the starter. Anyone ever had this problem before?! I took the negative cable off before starting so I don’t think I shorted anything or blew any fuses. What should I check?

No it’s not trying, starter isn’t even engaging. But I just found a wire that wasn’t connect, I think it goes to the head but not sure, it’s coming from the cab firewall and it was hanging there.

I connected that wire to the head and the clutch cancel button came on so I might be on to something. Going to try in a min when I get another person to start it so I can check for leaks. I’ve heard that I need to start and run the engine at approx. 1500 RpM in order to break in the came and valves, is this true or should I just let it idle?

That's a ground wire so you did have an open circuit somewhere. Did it start?

I connected that wire to the head and it started right up, runs good! I’m running it about 1500 rpms right now to break it in. Heard something about jumping some computer next to the air box to reset the computer timing or something and it will drop the RPMs about 500 bc its idling around 2K for some reason: I did mess with the throttle cable so that could be it too
