Rebuilt Rear Diff - Metal dust in Oil

Dont think I can offer much . Everything I was thinking about has already been mentioned in the excellent posts before mine
If they just did bearings on the original gears, it can be very tricky to get a good pattern set in .
Most shops will not change any shims on the original gear set for this reason .
If the shop did go with different shims , you can expect all that fine metal you see being created by the new pattern and the old pattern mixing .
Suprised you cant hear this inside the truck .
That was a lot of steel in the oil
Were you worried about warranty ? most shops will not warranty a bearing job .
Extra magnets ? silicone and a magnet on the outside of the axle housing or axle tubes can go a long way .

 

Pulled the diff. Do y’all see anything here that looks suspect ?

 

I think it's a little ''tight'' but the wear pattern is quite good and even. I guarantee you aren't getting any slop/play in that 3rd member.
