Have a qualified tech and auto collision specialist look it over really well before buying.

    Remember some things:
Insurance companies have their interests front and center- if it was in their interest to fix this,,, they would have.
These flippers fix using the absolute cheapest methods and parts
You may find it hard to obtain a loan
You may find it hard to obtain comprehensive insurance
The resale is much much lower

Doesn't look too damaged from the photos. I think as long as the fenders weren't pushed into the doors the repair was probably straight forward.

    Cash deal
Usaa does cover but the value won’t obviously be as high.
Seems at about 10000 cheaper than non rebuild.

It could be a gem, it could be a POS.
Risk n rewards,, up to you to decide.
I am not trying to talk you out of it, just stating the facts.

My last 6 Toyota trucks have been auction purchases/salvage titles.

Just bought a 21 Tundra with 13k miles.

If you can swing cash purchase, it's fun putting them back together. Not many banks will finance a salvage title truck.

I've had no issue running all these trucks to 300 k miles.

Do t let my wife see this truck, she will make me snipe it. It's the exact truck she wants.

    Lol.

I agree with everything except resale.

As long as you are planning to own the truck for 10 years, the resale is the same for clear or rebuilt titled trucks.

I had a 69 Camaro with a Salvaged title long ago. Never again! It was a pain to insure and an even bigger pain to sell. Not worth the savings in my opinion.

I know people that have gone this route and had a very hard time selling without repeated price reductions. Now, if you were to use the vehicle to the point it's sold for parts, then yeah,,, of course at that point, one would have made their money in savings and use, so they're up. But hey, if you were able to get top dollar, that's great too! Just not the norm.

Before and after pics of my 2021 Tacoma. 23k on it since it was rebuilt.
Only one issue post collision: rear end went out after about 1k miles, dealer paid for a new one.

I plan on keeping the truck so it wasn’t an issue for me re: resale. The rebuild was done prior to me purchasing it.

Having worked in this industry for years, I would only buy a rebuilt title vehicle if I had "before" pics, AND I knew the person/shop that fixed it. Otherwise, hard pass. Most fix and flip guys do it as cheaply as possible and cut all sorts of corners.

If you can only own a vehicle for a few years, then a rebuilt titled car is not for you.

Cars are never an investment. If you can afford to walk away from a car every few years, then saving money on a salvage titled car will not work.

I buy mine wrecked, I put them back together myself. I drive them myself. After 300,000 miles I'm ready for another project. I already saved money on buying and building it, so I have no issue pricing it lower than any comparable vehicles being sold at that time.

Not gonna lie. I'm the biggest gambler out there.

I've never heard the cars run, seen them run or know how much it going to cost to put them back together. So far I've only been off a couple grand from my estimates.

If a person can read a service manual, a person can put a wreck back together. It's a lot easier than it was 25 years ago. Toyota would not allow their diagrams to the early Internet. Now it's a quick search away for any info you need.

As long as you pay cash and don't want comp and collision insurance they can get some good deals sometimes. But you will find it VERY hard to insure.

Can you get a car loan for a rebuilt title? If you keep your trucks for a long time, dont mind that you cant get full coverage then go for it.

Never had any problems with my salvage vehicles in the past but I know who rebuilt my tacoma and know he did the job correctly!

I'm thinking we need a " rebuilt Tacoma thread"... or similar.
