Did anyone receive a recall notice for a leak in the third brake light leaking into the cab? I noticed this on my Toyota Owners site.

Never received notice in mail but read about it here on TC. I recently moved to an area that has a really strong car wash…sure enough I’m leaking. No stains or smell yet. I’m getting my truck done next week at a local Toyota dealership.

I'm not sure mail notices had gone out just yet. There are a few threads on this topic though and several people, including me, have already had the work completed.

No notice but I called the dealership and they said they’ve done a lot of them already. I’m scheduled for next Tuesday, they said if I haven’t been leaking and I’m not as far as I can tell then it’ll probably take an hour.

I went in for an oil change and was informed of the recall. Also said I will need to remove my Softopper to do it. Not a big deal because the topper comes of very easily. But I haven't noticed any water intrusion so I'm not really in a hurry to get it done.

But if it does start to leak there’s going to be a lot more tearing apart of your interior for the fix. I’m not leaking either but I’m getting it done next week then no worries about any leaks.

Never received a notice or noticed any leaks or smells, but had a scheduled service a couple of weekends ago and they informed me then and replaced it.

Is this in the US only or does this extend to Canada as well?

It’s not listed as a recall or campaign for my vehicle yet. Guess ours were built with better seals. :)

Use the Toyota Recal Website to check your VIN:
    https://www.toyota.com/recall

I never received a notice but checked this morning, shows the recall as available. Also shows last updated Sept 11 2021, and the original campaign date was Aug 12, 2021 - so, fairly recent considering several people have had this issue since the 3rd Gen came out in 2016.

My 2017 sure wasn't. I found out last summer it was leaking slightly and attempted to fix it. It's worked so far but this issue seems widespread.

No disrespect. I just think it odd that the Canadian market has been ignored on this issue. Did you get any good vibes from your dealer? I use Funks in Steinbach who are usually pretty good for service so maybe I’ll give them a shout. Maybe the dealer is aware.

    I’m not surprised.

Oddly enough I also have a VW Golf that has a widespread issue with the trim ring surround around the shifter splintering and cutting people. Happened 2 years ago, pretty good gash on my wife’s hand. We taped it up, the trim ring isn’t easily available for repair, it’s part of the entire cluster assembly so I haven’t replaced it on my own dime yet.

Canadian market just got a recall to have it replaced at no cost. I put in our VIN, not available. Global problem, only certain markets getting the recall.

I received no notice but saw but saw it on TW. I took it in a few weeks ago and got it taken care of. Took about an hour and a half.

Pretty sad that they actually have a recall on this. Hopefully, they make all owners aware of the issue to prevent any kind of water damage

This is correct, its listed as a limited service campaign, but its lumped into the "recall" area of the toyota owners web site, and shows "safety recall" on the trucks main screen of the owners site (this is why many say its a recall).
Mine expires on April 30, 2025, so if I have issues before then it will be fixed, if I have issues after then I will have to pay my self.

Is this just a double cab issue?
