Anyone have any stats or info on OTHER CAR COMPANY recalls that are not BLOWN UP in the media now?

Trying to make a point that this is ALL A CONSPIRACY with the media and the big three!

Someone posted a link of total recalls per manufacture last week. Toyota is well below any of the other company its size. But this one recall could make it to :D

The article also failed to mention the recall by Chrysler of their Town and Country, Dodge's Caravan, and Plymouth's Voyager for tailgates that would open without the vehicle being put in park. They had a few incidents of the tailgates opening while being driven down the road by kids in the back of the vehicle. Did you notice Toyota's ad concerning the recalls?

The only thing I got out of that article is a total 180 degree change in point of view from the media. This author suggests the blame lies 100% on the North American public being too stupid to know how to drive. If this is the case, why aren't other manufacturers cars having these reports of unintended acceleration in the quantity that Toyota's have? Through his logic, it would suggest the stupidest members of the population purchase Toyota's? I find this hard to believe. He's calling us all stupid and you guys are eating it up and praising his article to heaven just because he defends the manufacturer of your automobile!

No doubt the problem is blown out of proportion by the media. Therefore you'll have dickheads now using the unintended acceleration excuse for their own lack of driving abilities when they make a mistake, but as a third party to sit back and call everyone who have ever experienced this phenomenon "full of shit" and "not able to drive" - is just as lopsided and biased as the media. I'm willing to bet if your mother, father, sister, brother, significant other or your child had to fall fate to this type of accident, you would see the situation from another angle and be one of the first to cry foul. After all, it is ALWAYS someone else's fault.

I agree with you, but it was refreshing to read an article that wasn't jumping on the media bandwagon. Also, he didn't defend Toyota, in fact, he pointed out how they could have handled this better. On a lighter note, I think most of North America doesn't know how to drive very well. At least from what I've seen on the road lately.:)

As equally refreshing as it is to read my posts because I don't jump on the "Toyota is never wrong" bandwagon?:D

I'll get in on this one too. IBTL

It's time to wake up guys, Toyota has the biggest recall in years, and it's a HUGE SAFETY ISSUE! I understand you want to be loyal to Toyota, but wake up and stop being so damn naive.

This post is directed only at the members who are being completely naive and think that this isn't a big deal.

Actually, there are about 600 automotive safety recalls per year covering EVERY car maker. Yes, this is a big one, and Toyota screwed up and they need to fix the issue. My only problem is with the media hysteria. If this was happening to GM, would the media coverage be the same? I honestly don't know. I work for a GM service parts dept. and you wouldn't believe the number of recalls I see on a regular basis. For example, the new Equinox, which seems to be a nice vehicle, already has four recalls. The Cobalt is being investigated right now for a serious steering issue. My point is, I believe Toyota is responsible for this problem, but they are being unfairly trashed by the media. Again, this is just my opinion in what seems to be a friendly, intelligent debate. I don't see why it would be locked.

Yes, there are lots of recalls, but not this big, I disagree that it's being blown out of proportion, because most recalls aren't causing accidents, injuries and death's.

Recall/TSB, there are a TON of them for the new Tacoma's, and I don't even know what other Toyota vehicles are having huge quality issues like the Tacoma, then above all of those recalls, Toyota has to explain why MILLIONS of their vehicles are accelerating by themselves, I think they are getting the wake up call they deserve, it's obvious they have cut down on quality, and it's kicking them in the ass.

I don't think there are "millions" of Toyotas that are accelerating by themselves though. I think there are a few isolated incidents that are, in fact, being blown out of proportion by the American media. That's just what the media does. They blow things out of proportion. People wouldn't watch the news if they didn't blow things out of proportion.
