Not this big? The Ford Explorer/Firestone recall was over 6.3 million vehicles with over 250 deaths and 3000 serious injuries. (I wonder if they classify the deaths as a serious injury?)

I'd like to see the facts you have that say they are being blown out of proportion.

    over 2 Million vehicles

I'm sure they aren't all doing it everyday, but it's happening, and it shouldn't

Good points. One of the things throughout Toyota's history that they have done to keep up quality, is to have a limited number of suppliers. I guess in this case they should have stayed with one supplier - Denso. Maybe you are right, maybe this will be a wake up call not only for Toyota, but the entire auto industry. Quality matters.

I didn't know about that one, but maybe that's why they are getting this one out to the world? because if people don't hear about it and get it dealt with, their vehicle could potentially take off and easily cause many death's.

    Turn on CNN. :p

Ok, instead of in fact, I should have said in my opinion (and many other's opinions). :p

Sorry, but that bullshit video with the woman and her Tundra "rapidly accelerating off a cliff" killed it for me...

I hope it's the wake up call they need. I understand they are only videos and not proof, but if you look on the Ford site, they have some videos of the new F150, and the superduty. Although they aren't proof of quality, you can tell that ford has decided they want to be the best, in quality and performance, and it looks like they are doing a good job. Toyota has the opportunity to be the best, and they need to use that, especially during this "recession".

That one was well publicized much like the Toyota Recall is being, complete with Congressional Testimony and a lot of finger pointing between Ford and Firestone.

There was another woman (I think it was here in San Diego, my mom was freaking out and telling me not to drive ...which solidifies the fact that Americans believe everything they see on the news...) that drove into her garage because "her Tacoma suddenly accelerated in her driveway".

Guys you can't recall 8 million vehicle globally in as little as a month or so, stop selling your product, and close the majority of your factories without getting some airtime on the news. Do you really think they would can the Toyota story in favor of a little old lady that had her purse snatched at the supermarket? Get real...

The latest Prius recall was initiated by the Japanese Government - so there goes the Government Owned Motors theory on that one.

And the Ford / Firestone WAS a HUGE FIASCO with lots of finger pointing and playing the blame game - but the world got over it - just as it will with Toyota's woes.
