Anybody have any recent experience with Solo? Specifically their XLT kit. I’m on the fence with purchasing their kit. Paul, and Bobby have been for the most part great on the phone answering most of the questions I have had. However I have been reading alot of negative feedback about fitment issues, and poor after sale support. People don’t seem to get into details about fitment problems. I have questioned them about fitment issues, but they seem to dance around the subject, blaming problems on bent rails, and lower arm mounts. I’m not feeling 100% confident yet dropping 10k + on the kit.

I’m looking at Solo to achieve 19” of travel to compliment what will be a backhalved, and 4 linked rear. Plus the strength of the Dana 44 hubs will handle a 37” tire vs a unit bearing. LSK is currently developing a 4x4 race kit, but from what I understand it will be released end of year, if at all.

I would have zero hesitation purchasing from Solo Motorsports, excellent product and great customer support both before and after purchasing. Bobby has always answered every question I’ve ever had and taken the time to explain in detail his explanation. If your wanting to achieve 17”+ of travel XLT kit is the only way to go, is it a direct bolt on kit like TC, Dirt King or JD? No. It does require modification to your vehicle to achieve the additional travel that you are buying the kit for in the first place. I’m sure most of these “fitment issues” people are talking about are from people expecting to bolt a kit on and that’s it, we’re in a aftermarket industry where modifications to your vehicle and the parts purchased may be needed to gain full potential from your product. Buy with confidence and have a qualified fabricator install your kit if you are not up to the task and you will have success

My particular truck is getting the complete inner fender structure removed, and shocks tied into the engine cage. So no problems there. Doing it right to maximize all available travel, and clear a 37.

I will second this. Its not a bolt on kit and requires additional work to make fit right. I am in the middle of installing mine on my '08, plating the lower mounts, chopped the upper shock tower and arm mounts etc. Its slow going but will be worth it.

I bought a used solo setup a couple years ago and had several questions. the guys at solo had several phone conversations with me and were helpful even though I wasn't buying from them. I would purchase through them again

OP, did you end up getting the Solo kit? I am saving up right now. I was going to go with JD fab but 19" of travel sounds worth it and will complement links much nicer. Im at 11.5" with my current setup so not sure JD is worth it for 2.5"

With that much front travel, you pretty much need to link the rear.
10-14” Travel up front can easily keep up with 17” inch travel out back (spring under 62” leaf setup). In other words, if you had even a mid travel set up upfront with a secondary bypass and rear 62 inch springs with a bed cage…. your rear might still be the limiting factor. So with your gnarly solo front long travel kit, you’re gonna be limited by the rear and will not be able to use the full potential unless you link it and go for gobs of up travel back there .
