Recirculate Button

I have a 2008 Tacoma access cab and when I depress the recirculate button the light does not come on. I pulled the climate control panel out and looked at the connections and everything looked OK. The little icon on the button lights with the other panel lights, the light that shows the recirculate button is depressed does not light. Don't use this very often, I just like things to work the way then should. Looking for suggestions on how to go about finding out what the problem is.

 

With blower motor on?

 

Tried with blower motor on and with motor off. Tried with AC on and AC off. The button was working last week.

 

You should check continuity of the lamp itself.

 

Recirculate won't come on if you have it on defrost. Put it on the vent setting and see if it comes on

 

It should also come on even if the blower is off. This stops all air flow into the cab while driving. If you've ever noticed air still coming through the vents even with the blower is off, that's why. Gotta have recirculate on and it closes those fresh air vents and stops all air flow

I have the opposite problem my a/c light doesn't light up

 

I will try taking if off defrost. I know I usually have the setting on defrost/air. I will try that tomorrow morning. It is too dark and cold now to mess with it. Thanks.

 

My AC lights works just fine.

 

Check to see if the recirc doors actually open and close.

Pull the glove box off and observe the 2 doors above the filter housing moving up or down.... no tools required for this.

 

so does your recirculation button. just take it off defrost

 

That is easy to do. I have had my glove box out many times. While I am at it I might as well change the cabin filter.

Could not wait until tomorrow, had to check it out. It was on the defrost setting. I never use the defrost, my wife was the last to use the truck and she must have put it on defrost. Took if off defrost and everything is working like it should. Damm wife, she has her own car to drive. Guess she does not want to use up her gas. I guess the next mod will be a kill switch. When it doesn't start she will use the car.

It is funny that you tore into your HVAC panel to see what was wrong. I've done shit like that too

 

same thing happened to me today glad I found this thread, but I noticed the recirc light didn't work on defrost and defrost/floor I think
