Recirculating air not working

2002 Tacoma base model is constantly getting outside air. Push the button to change between outside air and recirculate, button lights up but still getting outside air. Which motor activates this feature please? How can I test it?

 

There is a blend-door servo under the passenger side of the dash that may be the culprit.
This may or may not be the correct part, do some research before buying.

Doesn't that servo control blending hot and cold air with the knob? i can't get the outside air to change to recirculating when pushing the recirc button. Same servo?

 

Yes it typically does hot and cold, not sure about fresh vs recirc, but the description in the parts link says that some models did re-circulation. It's as good a place as any to start.
It's easy to remove, and test with the dash knob while you can see it operate.

So there are tons of videos on replacing the blend door actuator but I haven't found any on the recirculation door actuator. Anyone know where it's located, any diagrams?

 

It's called the Air Inlet Servo, looks like you need to remove the glovebox to access it.
