20250201_163055.jpg Does anyone recognize this connector? It's behind the lower dash panel to the left of the steering wheel.

Wire colors would confirm but I believe that is Connector IR1, it is half of an inline connector for part of the trailer tow package wiring.

I can check wire colors tomorrow, but this is a regular cab with the 2.7L 4 cylinder engine. Definitely no tow package. Could it be just part of a standard wire harness, whether you get a tow package or not?

Yes, manufacturers often do this as it cuts down on the number of different wiring harness configurations they need to produce.

OK. Thank you @Dm93. I was hoping that I had another switch option I didn't know about.

It provides a source for a missing harness to add a basic 4 pin towing connector:
    upload_2025-2-1_23-8-37.png

It seems to be the vehicle side to the towing/turn relay.

Interesting, I didn't know there was a kit like that.

I guess that's what Option Connector Z2 is for as well?

Z2 is on earlier Tacoma's, but yes, for same 4 pin towing harness.

Good to know for reference although I would never buy a truck without the factory towing package.
