Let me begin by saying I am not the greatest negotiator.
That said, I've been looking to buy a new Tacoma and I'm messaging these dealerships and the best I'm seeing is 1k under MSRP.
Can anyone recommend to me a dealer within a few hours of central California please?

I moved up to Central California from Orange County 6 months ago. I went to quite a few dealers down there and had a great experience through the whole custom order process with Tustin Toyota earlier this year. Tacoma 4x4's are hard to find and they don't negotiate much so I went through the Costco auto program and saved around 2500 off MSRP with the fixed pricing. Look into the $55 membership if you're not a member. Toyota is releasing an all new tacoma next month that will probably hit dealers Oct/Nov, you may want to hold off.

I bought my 14 in Modesto a few months ago. I shopped around in nor cal for a while. They had a good inventory of tacomas and were willing to knock some money off the sticker.

Toyota of Escondido has a ton of trucks, but is probably too far south for you.

contact all the internet managers in your area and compare quotes.
play the car game and shop then against each other.

    offer $500 over invoice-
if you dont mind driving to socal you can get that deal in a heart beat.

20% tint on the front windows. 8-15-13 Installed Icons front and rear with Dakars. 2012 4Runner wheels with 275/70/17 BFG T/A KO2's. Weather Tech mats front and back. Leer shell with Leer Locker and roof racks.
If near Northern CA go to Toyota of Santa Cruz I have bought 1 4runner and 2 tacomas there and have had excellent experiences. If they don't have what you're looking for they will bring it in...ask for Chuck D.

$500 over invoice would be fair I suppose. How realistic is it go get that or even lower?

also OP all dealers have the same cost(invoice) no matter how many cars they sell

come down to LA,it will be worth your time and money ,there is about 45 toyota dealers here waiting to give cars away!!!
this time of year is very bad for car sales and it doesnt pick back up til tax time.

Last week I just bought a Certified Used 2013 4Runner for my wife at Santa Maria Toyota and got it for $28,000, including a 100K full warranty, which is $1000 under the wholesale price. The service was good too. They had 6-8 Tacos on the lot when I was there.

Vacaville Toyota does a pretty good job via their online sales...they start off abut $1750 or so below msrp, but are good to work with. Were willing to sell me a TRD Pro at $1500 off msrp (but they ended up getting a Black one so I passed)...Talk to Aaron

Where in CenCal? Its a massive area. Just call all around and get prices on the exact model you want, go with the lowest. I ended up with DCH Toyota in Oxnard.
