Time to change out the rear axle gear lube. FSM says SAE 90 but what is everyone else doing? Dino, synthetic, additives and brands?

Amsoil has a 80-90 severe duty gear oil that satisfies FSM, it specifies 75-90 in front axle and Dextron II,III ATF for power steering

Picked up 3 qts of Fram full synthetic 75-90 while I was out this afternoon mainly because thats what the local ADAP had on the shelf. Says it’s suitable for GL5 applications which I am guessing is the same as the SAE5 from the FSM.

I love the Valvoline synthetic in the bag packaging from Walmart, cheap enough, always available, and easy to squeeze out every last drop without a pump.

Ditto, the 75W/90 weight. They also have a 75W/140 full synthetic but I don't think it comes in the squishy bag.
I have a mechanical LSD, thus, I have to add an LSD additive or use full synthetic gear oil. I use the Valvoline. Also have it in our Lexus RX350 AWD system. I get the four pack on Amazon for $49. Some walmarts sell the single packs, $13, I believe.

Another vote for the Valvoline synthetic in the bag.
Ridiculously fast and easy with the bag.

I know someone that printed those and laminated them; keeps them in his truck which is smart.

Was meaning to do the same but I just downloaded the pic.

Don't even have a Tacoma or 4R anymore, but comes in handy for others.

Recommend you save it for future use.

Yes indeed I am definitely gonna screen grab it an print it for future reference and also how to grease the chassis which appears to have some straight PITA fittings that are gonna require an angled fitting on the gun

Driveshaft can be a PITA. I ground flats on the grease gun coupler to make it a fit easier.
