I noticed in the youtube video the guy mentioned there is a notch in the output.. to mitigate the issue you should run fogs. If you don't run fogs is that notch that noticeable?

I was in the same situation when upgrading my low beam headlights. I ended up getting the xenon depot extreme HID kit with 4300k philips bulbs. The difference is amazing. I had to adjust my lights because I was getting high beamed all the time. The light matches my LED daytime running lights. The installation was not as a bad as I thought it would be. Highly recommend this kit.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your new lights. Any chance you have some pictures of the results you can share?

Has anyone tried the PIAA Extreme White Plus H11 bulbs? Any input would be appreciated!

Im in the same boat ready to upgrade my new 19 Would like the HIDs output and don’t mind doing the wiring but read a lot about the shake thing with them.

...kinda interested in how these do when they come out.

Site shows a 3rd gen but would like to see some real world pics. They are in preorder right now. I’ve used VLEDS in the past and they have great quality products.

I never had a shaking issue with the Morimoto HIDs I had. When both HID bulbs failed, I decided to try the Supernova V4 LEDs.

The V4s have a much better beam pattern than the HIDs, but are not as intensely bright. The HIDs could be almost too bright at times, and the cutoff line was very distinct with an annoying blue line at the top of the beam. The V4s fall between the HIDs and the stock bulbs in brightness, but have an almost identical throw, without the distinct cutoff line. The install of the V4s was cake compared to the HID kit. So far I'm really liking the V4s.

Dont remember the name but I run piaa LEDs in my low beams. Best led headlight bulbs I've used, started with opt7 and tried another I forget which. Good color, good cutoff, side light is great, can be tough on dark roads in the rain. I'd recommend in yellow halogens in the dogs for when weather gets bad.

Downside is not better visibility than a good halogen(no LEDs are, those that are aren't being honest) and the fans are a bit loud if you have lights on without engine. Install is simple and the part quality is everything I'd expect from one of the top quality lighting manufacturers and a 150 dollar pair of bulbs

I know I’m reviving an older post but here’s the route I went. I as well went with the Supernova V4 but directly from China (or ebay/Amazon). They are all just rebranded LED bulbs made by the same Chinese manufacturer. I bought a set called the F2 off Ali Express. They cost $38 shipped and took 3 weeks. Of course going with a local vendor at 4x the cost gets you a 2 year warranty and convenience/support. The way I saw it, at that price I could just replace them (4 times if needed) if they break. Anyways, I did a ton of research on these in various forums/video reviews. There’s an either hate it or love it opinion about LED bulbs as a replacement in halogen projectors. LOTS of people with tons of actual data. At $38 shipped, I thought I would just try a set of these bulbs. I was mainly looking for a bulb that closer matched the color of my Ridgid fogs and DRL leds without losing real-world visibility. The Supernova V4/F2 bulbs fit the bill for me. Regardless of the data, my eyes are telling me that I have lost no lighting range distance with these LEDs. Especially with the cutoffs on the stock projector, these bulbs shine brightly to the cutoff and slightly beyond. At this range, I can see just as well as the stock if not better because of the brightness. They stick to the cutoff line and don’t blind other drivers. Passed a police officer on a darker road on the first test drive and there was no issue. These things are indeed very bright and don’t blow out the foreground. My Ridgid digs fill the empty foreground space perfectly. All-in-all, I’m quite satisfied with these. I did an HID retrofit on my past 1st gen Tacoma. These LEDs in my 3rd gen projectors surpass the performance of that older HID kit.

Not posting any pics of the beam pattern and brightness as these pics and videos are everywhere and talked/beaten to death. I can just say the viability you get with these leds is great!... real world, ignoring data. Our eyes can only see so far even with the stock halogens.

Thanks for reviving lol. I've read all the data and heard all the negatives of running LED's in projector housing. Saw these SV.4's and was leaning towards pulling the trigger regardless. I just can't believe that in 2019 they haven't come up with an LED that would work well in a projector housing. So after 6 months you still liking these LED's?

I love them! Compared to the stock halogen bulb, it's definitely brighter and I can see just as well if not better than the stock bulbs even at a distance. The cutoffs with this bulb are very close to the stock halogens. I think these bulbs perform quite well in the stock halogen projector. But, don't tell the guys in that other thread that... they'll tear you a new one! Really, these SV.4's (or generic equivalent) provide plenty of adequate light and are plenty bright with a good focal pattern/cutoff/hotspot.

The only con (mabye?) is that the fan noise is very apparent from outside the truck when my Tacoma is turned off. While sitting in the truck, it's not that bad.

I have GTR's installed in the highs and lows and they work great. Definitely had to do what the video from headlight revolution stated in order to get a good beam pattern but it worked out great. Nice crisp line where it ends and doesn't appear to do what others claim (emitting light everywhere it shouldn't). Have yet to have anyone flash me and they've been installed since summer of 2017. Also didn't need to remove my headlights. Just loosened the bolts and was able to manipulate them into place without any hassle. I would agree though, definitely don't buy any LED bulb as I'm sure some are crap.

Lol yes they will bash the shit out of you for even thinking LED's. I think I can live with the fan noise. Any idea how long the fan stays on after the truck is shut down?

Since it's a "universal" bulb it is made to fit in multiple different housings so the keys on the side don't serve the true function of ensuring you have the bulb oriented the correct way. Had to place my truck 20 feet away from my wall in the garage and insert then remove the bulb until I got the correct beam pattern.

Love LED headlights but hate the quality of aftermarket crap. They never measure up to Toyota’s high quality standards.

My plans? I am waiting for a Toyota part number for the new 2020 LED headlight assemblies that come standard on Pro’s and optional on lesser models for 2020. Hopefully they will be plug-and-play for 2016-2019 Tacoma’s. It doubt Toyota would have spent money altered the wiring harness for the new LED’s.

I have no experience with aftermarket LED's but thought the same thing about the 2020 models. Toyota would make alot of money if they make it plug and play lol. The Morimoto's look pretty good and the test results were really good. I just don't think i want to spend over a grand for lights.

I run OPT7. Both sides went out within 2 years, but got replacements with no issue. The new set is working just fine 2+ years now

I enjoy my SV4s while I wait on my Morimotos to arrive.

Unlikely, and the performance of reflector LEDs will be quite poor.

They work very well--that video shows the result. No adjustments needed.
