The wider tires (265/70/R16) give the wheels a more substantial look without changing the 'size' of the tire. If you look at the OR tires vs the SR/SR5 tires you will see what I mean.
The 265/70/16s have the exact same circumference as the 245/75/16s, so your speedo etc. works correctly. They just look bigger (and better IMO).

I've had Michelin LTX tires in the past and they're great tires, but Kumho Crugen HT51's are basically the same tire at a much lower price point (~$110/ea). We've have a set on our SUV for a couple years now and they've been great so far.

EDIT- Kumho Crugen HT51 also have the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol

Michelin Defender LTX M/S is the best of the best for what you’re asking for.

Stick to stock size or +1 (3%) at largest.

Have had the Michelin’s and their predecessors on every manor of vehicle and they’re great, but I will say not the best if you spend a considerable time in ice/snow.

I'd stay away from anything that came with the vehicle (lowest bid) or Firestone.

BFG, Mitchell, Bridgestone and a couple other brands should treat you well. I would also go with a 265/70R16

    Good luck

So after lots of research, I also took the advice and lucky me made 4 return trips to balance my new Michelin 265 65 17defender ltx m/s on 2017 sport AC. Including and eventually replacing 2 with the hunter road force balance.
But after a week it slowly returns to a balance/bounce issue above 45mph and wheel shake, we had snow and cold temps last week.
Always smooth rolling below 40mph, hard breaking with hands off steering wheel truck stops straight. Checked alignment, adjusted the usual suspects torque and pressure.
No history of balance shaking issues with the OEM A30 Toyo and wheels.

Dealer just called and Michelin is honoring the 60 day customer satisfaction and will install any brand of my choice, no additional charge unless the new set is higher priced.

    Any serious recommendations much appreciated.

    Maybe a Hankook?

I'm running the AT2 and road noise is minimal and balancing at a larger size was no issue. I can imagine the highway tires are just as nice and possibly even better.

Thinking your size are not made in the USA and have had quality issues.

    Friday before a holiday?

Jk aside. It's always a hit or miss with all mass-produced items. Like with the Falkens. Some balance, some don't. 3 of mine did, one did not. They were made in Malaysia. The Hankook AT2s I run now were made in Korea. Some are made in TN. They balanced well, but I'm sure there's some that will not.

I went geolanders last time but Michelin all terrain was my first choice, too much money though.

Michelin Defender LTX MS. No road noise. I run mine at 32 psi. I did not need an alignment.

Yes rides quiet and smooth as glass on the open road. I run 38# in the winter, 36# in summer.

As others have said, very smooth and they track well without wandering. New tires don't require an alignment per se, but if it's been a while since you've had one, it's a good investment to make sure it's within spec and to prolong the life of your tires.
