Brush guards, or as we call them in Texas, grill guards have their place if they are of decent quality (Ranch Hand, Frontier, ArcRite, Warn, etc.). I am currently looking for one for my '04 Tacoma to protect it from deer. We have an abundance of deer here in central Texas and I've probably hit 4-5 in the past 10 years, mostly in either a Ford or Dodge pickup, but the Ranch Hand grill guards on those trucks protected from any damage at all. Unprotected trucks lose headlights, radiators, quarter panels, etc. The flimsy fashion-statement grill guards are a waste of money though, in my opinion.

Sure they are crash damage multipliers, but I personally like the look of them and them have some utility (bump gates, deer, fog light mount, etc.)
