    Hello everyone,
New to TW. I placed an order for my truck at my local Toyota this week but they will not do any negotiations below MSRP. I had to order because I want MGM AC TRDOR with Tech Package. They did not ask for a deposit so I'm free to cancel my order if I find a better deal. Does anyone have any recommendations in CA? I talked to 3 other dealers in my area and got the same response... MSRP only. Thanks!

You do realize without a deposit and paperwork, they can sell that truck to anyone who will pay more when it comes in......They didn't ask for a deposit so they retain the option to sell it to anyone when it comes in.

People are paying MSRP so you really have no choice. Your fellow shoppers are creating the "market price".

I'd suggest buy at a much lower price in a nearby state, fly in, drive home.

Makes sense. If they sell it to someone else, I will just wait and maybe end up with a 2017. I placed an order last summer for a 2015 with the same configuration but Toyota never picked the order because the 2016's were coming out. Finding 4x4s in Southern CA is not easy. I'm getting tired of waiting!

NV and AZ are good options. I'll call some dealers this weekend. Thanks,

Toyota of Escondido is honoring Costco, it's 1K over invoice I was told. Ordered mine over a week ago. It's not a great deal but best I could find in the area.

I got mine from Valley Hi Toyota in Victorville for a little more than $1000 under MSRP. Given the market conditions, I was happy with that.

This is where I got mine. The deal with Costco was $350 under MSRP - not much of a deal but best I could find. Funny, though, they drove it up from Escondido - must be the Costco relationship.

Kearny Mesa Toyota, Mossy Toyota and Toyota of Escondido all honor Costco pricing, which is $1100 over invoice. The problem is finding what you want.

Ordered a 4x4 sr5 back in sept. through costco at $500 over invoice but had to cancel for various reasons. Reordered this week and now it's $1100 over invoice! Bitched and moaned and tried the other five dealerships in my area (San Diego) but couldn't do any better so went with it. My Frank Toyota dealership also estimated 3-4 month wait.

Try aaa or costco, you'll at least get $350 below MSRP, I then had other dealers match that when I talked to them, as they knew I'd walk otherwise.
I went with aaa at one dealer as it was $600 over invioce....but Im getting the distinct impression he's jerking me around in placing my allocation order for a manual AC Sport with tech and tow, as its been nothing but excuses for 2 months. I did not put down a deposit, but would have. Dealer said to wait until order went in.

I'm in no real rush and I know my truck is rare, but 2 months to place an order? About to try going over the mountain to Corona to Larry H Miller, who apparently also will do aaa. TrueCar also shows that people are paying a lot less in the IE zip codes than LA or OC. You might want to try an IE dealer.

Sounds like San Diego dealers are price fixing.

I know one that likes to take your pants down... Huntington Beach. Saw my fake beadlocks there at the low low price of $2400 without tires. They would not budge on price when I tried to buy a truck from them. I buy parts on a regular basis but I wouldn't go there if my life depended upon it.

Get on line and check inventory for every dealer within your radius of comfort and check the internet price with them.

How do you guys check inventory for dealers? Just by going on each dealer's individual website?

BINGO! Which is why I am not even thinking about paying at MSRP. I don't understand why people have the urge to pay @ MSRP when they Dealerships/Auto Manufactures are profiting @ Invoice... I walked out of 2 serious negotiations because of the ridiculousness of paying MSRP.

That is what I had to do. Toyota's website was useless for me.

I would also drop in at any dealer I happen to drive nearby.

Most dealers here (San Francisco Bay Area) would only have like 3-4 trucks at any given time. I was interested in checking out a Limited, but they seem to be rare here. I still haven't seen one.
