Wait until the price of these marshmallows calms down. You will probably find an improvement may occur. Think 2005 motor mounts.

I just assumed they were good because of their volume. I've never dealt with a sales person there, as I know the director of fleet. I picked up my silver DC TRDsport 4x4 on Friday for $400 over invoice and all paper work was done when I arrived. Didn't even sit through finance. Just gave him my down payment check, chatted for a bit then left.

$400 over invoice is the cheapest I've heard in SoCal. Congrats

I'm gonna purchase my 2016 SR AC 4x4 from South Coast Toyota. That's were I got my 2011 FJC TT. I was told $24,318 + tax/lic. For SoCal that's a great price.

This. Though there are some extra tasks to bring it into the state.

You can "go north" like I did and buy in the bay area or north end of the Central Valley. The worst prices in the (mainland) country appear to be in SoCal, so if you want a deal, you need to be looking away from that hotspot.

You can check out this thread for several stories of how folks dealt with this scenario. Everything from just buying one at MSRP to flying out of state and bringing it home. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/southern-california-offer-quotes.393034/

I know you asked for So-Cal but Fly up to Norcal (not bay area) and scoop one up and drive home, 4x4's are pretty common up there.

Out of state is the way to go if you are in the hunt for a 4x4, especially 4x4 with JBL audio. The latter combo is on the high side of the MSRP and therefore may dealers shy away from ordering it. When I was looking for mine, I also discovered Cars.com has a more relieving inventory than Edmunds.com does. Only those that advertise get their inventories listed, so you need to check each dealer website and call. It is what I did looking out of state, plus cross matched the dealer sites to zero in on the truck I wanted. Be aware some BS dealers also leave "bait" trucks on their local site to attract customers even though the truck(s) on the website has/have not been in stock for a long time. When you call you'll get the... "we just sold that one... BUT we have others." Keep shopping. Best of luck to all.

I went thru pep boys with a crap magnet, got it all
No hassle at Longo for me, $800 under MSRP and dealer cost on any accessories that didn't come on the truck.(bed step and bed extender) I emailed the internet department "Han" for a quote. I emailed all the LA dealerships, Longo was the most competitive. Downtown LA Toyota was $3,000 over MSRP!

That's not a deal. The $400 over invoice was. Costco deal through I think Escondido was $1k over invoice.

Why the heck do these dealer have ~20 Tacomas each in stock, and the So Cal dealers have 1-4?

However, they do have a couple "sucker trucks" on the lot:

I like a deal as much as the next guy, but at some point the work involved (getting a car shipped from out of state, etc..) Is not worth the time and effort to me. I may be a minority in this, but I like to see/drive the exact truck i'm buying.

I put in a few hours of gathering data, trying to get the best deal, etc.. and It was enough for me. It wasn't worth my time. I could be much more productive doing other things.

Just my 2 cents from someone who didn't mind paying $700 under MSRP. ;)

The first thing I do before buying any vehicle is research what others are paying. And not with truecar, or any of that other BS. You go straight to the forums. It was an eye opener seeing how folks in the east coast were getting 3-4K OFF MSRP, and people in the left coast getting shafted with MRSP pricing.

Armed with that, I thought that 2K under MSRP would be easily obtainable by a ready with cash buyer such as myself. Boy was I wrong. Most wanted MSRP, or above. My issue is out of the 10 or so dealers I contacted most didn't have the truck in stock. That made negotiating hard. I had to settle for the 2 or 3 dealers that had what I wanted in stock.

Anyways, my point is. My time = money, so while getting 2K off would be FANTASTIC, I realized that I my have waited for some time, and put in the work to get there.

At this point, i'm more than pleased with the truck, and whatever money I could have saved is quickly forgotten when I take the family out on the truck.

I'm sure as a day trader, you realize every minute of your (work) life counts!

ehhh. like i said, what ever floats you boat. Only a handful of us holdouts are left waiting for a good deal. I get a high getting a good deal. Its better than doing regular drugs. And I still come out on top. hahaha
