Hey all, looking for a 3rz-fe. Having trouble finding the 8 port 2 coil option my 98 requires, and having equal trouble finding an importer who replies.

    Recommendations would be appreciated.

There are so many importers just what part of the world are you looking to get an Engine.

It does little good to list importers 3000 miles away.

Or you can have what you want shipped direct from Japan though that would be a Tad expensive!!

I'm in California but getting it shipped is no big deal.

I had the same issue when I rebuilt my truck. Because I couldn't find a replacement twin coil pack setup motor I decided to rebuild my own.

Had the blocked bored and then I rebuilt it. Ordered an 8 port replacement head, fully built.

Replacement 8 port head had the gaping hole for the distributor to bolt into. I filled the hole with permatex and a freeze plug ( don't remember exact size... somewhere between 52 and 60 mm I think?)

Morale of the story, you can buy the distributor 3rz from a local CA JDM supplier, then remove the distributor and mount your twin coil pack plate to the distributor bolt holes (they WILL line up) and your truck will run just fine. I've got 10k on my rebuild with a distributor head

What about the cam sensor? Is that in the head or the block?

I'll just go with any 3rz I can get with an ECU if I have to and hope the pinouts match and if not make them match.

I took all of the sensors off of my stock engine and installed them in the new head, everything screwed or bolted in the way it should. I didn't have to change anything

Maybe I am old fashioned I have to many Horror Stories between importers and freight companies fighting over damage claims .

I am within a few hours of several I would rather deal in person.

Inspect things Load it up then if I make a mistake it is on me. If the engine is bad a simple matter to return and refund or get another one rather then wait weeks shipping things back and forth.
