I think hes looking more at the configuration. The size, handles and spout etc. Vs the traditional "red plastic jug" which are all basically the same.

I picked up a 4th Midwest can last week. A little one gallon to use for diesel for my chinese heater. Exact same spout / cap / threads as the regular 5-gallon size which is awesome so everything is interchangeable.

If you dont mind steel (I havent had any issues in over 5 years) Id again highly recommend the Midwest brand, especially for the price

I think the big thing for me is I am not worried about the can abrading from the jerry can holder. Especially for the smaller cans that don't really have a good mount for. I really wanted a smaller can that could stack to fit in a holder for the larger, standard 20L jerry can. So I can carry diesel for the diesel heater and water or extra gas.

Get whatever can fits your storage and seals well. Then get a decent siphon and you won’t care if the spout is hard to use or spills all over the side of the truck… Or you realize that you can’t get all the gas out because of the shortness of the spout and you can’t tilt it up any more without hitting the bedside/shell/camper/bed rack/et al.

I have had this setup for over 3 years:
    Rough Country Molle panels
    Midwest cans from Harbor Freight
    Smittybuilt can holders
    Amazon non-carb spouts
Long funnel to fill truck(not pictured)
Haven't had any problems with this setup.
