So I’m looking to purchase some rain guards for my 2010 Tacoma Base AC. I’d like to know which ones are the best in quality and also easy to install.

    Thanks in advance!

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
Ones that fit in the window opening, not taped to the body/door.

WeatherTech is one, IIRC there may be a couple more

I believe there's also AVS brand.
I have the Weathertech in-channel type and love them.

Definitely leaning towards the in channel style. Not too comfortable sticking anything to my paint.

Weather Tec in channel and add additional double sided thin foam tape to ensure the tightest possible fit.

Dumb question, but why does everyone have a hard-on for in-channel visors? Because they keep your paint free of adhesive goop? Because they attach more securely or are less likely to get ripped off?

I'll be honest, I replaced my exterior-mounted visors with in-channel ones because all the cool kids seem to have them. I'm still not sure why they're such a popular option, though.

For me they seem to 'fit' or 'flow' in the window shape better but it's just a preference.
I do think it depends on the vehicle sometimes though. I would not have run the in-channel style on the MKIV GTI I used to have, there just was not enough room to fit.

    1) it looks cheap
    2) I've seen plenty of cars with stick-ons channels flopping in the wind due to adhesive deteriorating over time.

AVS In-Channels for 10 or 11 years now. Probably the 2nd thing I did to the truck (after shortening the antenna).

I think the In-Channels stay affixed better and less chance for whistling or flapping, especially where I live and snow/ice can build up under the other style.

AVS in channel here. I put Weathertech in channel on my wife’s Mazda and had one come off and get lost within 6 months. Those are held in partially with metal tabs in the rear window. The tabs go under the weatherstrip which you have to partially remove to install. Weathertech replaced the rears at no charge when I emailed and attempted to purchase just one so their customer service is great I’ll say that. The Weathertech’s are thicker than the AVS which seems to cause the motor to work harder once the window comes in contact with them. The AVS seem to be about half that thickness and you can’t really tell when the window slides against them. I’d recommend the AVS, also they’re about half the price of the Weathertechs so there’s that. 115E0A70-1C3D-4D36-9C04-F693B58F1F28.jpg
