    1. I am impressed with how active this community is, so +1 for that
    2. Only reason I am asking, I just got out of a subaru, which a lot of people drove under-powered all the time.
Their manual stated to never be below particular speeds in order to stay away from being bogged or under-power.

I was driving my taco for the first time last night, and it felt amazing, just wasnt sure if I was flying around,
    or if it was normal.

I just kind of go by feel when accelerating but I've noticed a couple of cutoff points when it comes to downshifting. Anything below 9pmh you'll want to choose 1st. Anything below 21ish you'll need to go 2nd. Above that it's kind of a wash... you can ride it down to about 40 in 6th and it won't complain too bad but I rarely do that. I'm normally downshifting to 5th once I get in the 50s and 4th once I'm in the 40s.

On average I'd say I'm shifting around 2500-3000

The 6 speed in the STI was like

    1-2 15
    2-3 25
    3-4 40
    4-5 50
    5-6 60

if you did anything below that, you were bogging,
1-3 was equal to 3-3100 rpms
    4-6 was just a hair over 2500

Well there you go then...that is when you should be shifting. If it is bogging down (lugging) you will know.
