Hello, just starting to get into off reading and want to have some equipment for myself or if others are stuck. Where can you safely attach a recovery strap on the front and back of a 17 tacoma? Do you need d ring as well?

The front you can connect a strap to the tow hook on the passenger side. Don't use the loop on the driver side as that's just a transport tie down. For the front hook no shackle is needed. For the rear hopefully you have a tow package, you'll want to buy a receiver shackle mount and shackle. Something like this:

If you're in a pinch you can also just put the loop of the tow strap into the hitch and then put the pin through the loop. The shackle mount is preferred though.
