Red Bullet VVTi Solenoids GB (Primary GB CLOSED)

Would be cool to get these in before my Xmas road trip!

 

Throttle body? Spark plugs? Added weight recently? Coil packs? I had similar and most helped. Didn’t change packs but will with RIPPs. Looking forward to the solenoids

 

For some reason my stupid notifications didn't alert me of new posts.

I will make a list for the 10 runner ups or so who were not capable of being included in the group buy and they will have to wait. Sorry gents.

Started my truck today in about 40* weather and she seemed to misfire a little 10 seconds or so. This happens so infrequently I hardly notice

 

That used to happen to me as well. Hasn't happened not once since.

 

I can be put on a second list if needed. I'm gonna install the qs ones on the taco this weekend so I'll see if the juice is worth the squeeze for the race truck.

 

I would say that's fine, but remember this group buy is specific to the Tacoma 1GR-FE only. Not the HoRunner.

How often should the oem solenoids be changed anyway? Just wondering.
I’m at 113k now

 

I just changed the plugs yesterday. Last time I did them was about 25k ago. One had that staining on the ceramic body..corona discharge stain or whatever it's called. Harmless, apparently. The electrodes looked ok to me.

The drop in mpg's just happened on the way home from a TX road trip. I did montana and back, then down to TX...all averaging around 15.5-16.5 tanks, uncorrected for tire size. Then when I hit Arkansas it dropped to 13.5 instantly and I haven't been able to get it to recover.
So no weight was added. Could look at the coil packs but didn't think they went bad that often or only having a mpg drop as an indicator.

 

ah yah it can be tricky. maybe you got some good gas.

 

There is no specific mileage interval for replacement. They seem to last anywhere between 80- 200K and they emanate their issues in various different ways, not just a check engine light, so it's somewhat of a mixed bag.

Something that just occurred to me - not sure who else on the list has camshafts installed, but I could be someone to give a report on before and after information on that.

Edit: You guys want to kick in some money for a before and after dyno?!? Just kidding, my dyno guy is actually ridiculously cheap.

Aw man just saw it was capped at 40. Well I'm willing to wait for round 2 if it happens. Just let me know where to send the money.

 

Damn - I though I just barley snuck into the top 40. Checked the first post and I’m the first on the backup list !
Better for my broke college wallet, but if the Tacoma gods deem it a necessary mod, they will find a way.

 

I will happily get on the first GB if people back out or are unresponsive.
