Killed the legendary bear right after the mission with Hosea... then promptly got killed by a random O'Driscoll on the side of the road while trying to take the pelt to sell.

Yes, I know the trapper still has it, but I didn't get the $60 for selling it that I wanted..

Finished Chapter 4 last night did the first few parts of 5 until camp is set up in the swamp and chaos ensues. I am over the swamp.

 

Is it true that some side missions go away the further you get into the story?

I have heard some people say don't explore too much early on because it might spoil some things, but also heard that some things become unavailable later on.

 

I did the same. Chapter 5 has a lot of forced missions so when I got to that point I decided to go exploring.

I got jumped and killed. When I came back it said my saddle was left in that location. White Lightning, my white Arabian had been killed. I have had that horse since the beginning. I bought a black Arabian and headed North West to get another white one. It is way harder this time. Over an hour chasing one around and it either runs away or bucks me off every time.

 

That sucks, I was worried about losing my hose when we went off to the start of 5. I'm just happy I was able to recall my Arabian to camp saddle and all. I've covered the middle of the map North to south and east to west from Valentine to Van Horn, so I think. I fast travel to Strawberry and finish exploring that area. Need to work on my smaller animal hunting skills. Damn rabbits and foxes always never get a clean kill. Fox tells me to use a repeater I head shot it with a repeater and the damn thing runs away. Although I am happy that I have unlocked the upgraded dead eye that shows instant kill zones.

 

Quick hint on how to get the white Arabian.....First of all...MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A HORSE REVIVE ON YOU! Second, find horse. Third, shoot horse in head (scoped rifle is best with dead eye to shoot from a long distance). Forth, use horse revive on said dead horse. Fifth, get on and quickly break horse. Sixth, you now own once dead now alive white Arabian.

Disclaimer, don't ask me how I know this....lets just say some wolves showed up around the same time I went to get the horse (for a second damn time, you will learn why later in the story) and I got a little trigger happy and bullets were flying everywhere.

 

I always track rabbits once I find a 3 star one and wait for it to stand up and head shot with Varmint rifle. Fox's I head shot with the Rolling Block rifle. Never damaged a pelt. Squirrels need to be head shot with the small game arrows made with feathers a shotgun shell and an arrow. Need to buy recipe from a fence I think.

 

Anyone had any luck finding these creepy easter eggs I've been hearing about? The ghost train and vampire ones looks pretty awesome...

Yea I’m trying to stay a decent guy but a simple assault by accident turns into a massacre everytime

If you have super high honor you unlock the hero pearl grip. Same if you have a really low honor, you unlock the gunslinger ebony grip.
