I've been taking a lot of time with the story. I've had hours-long play sessions just exploring the map, fishing and hunting without doing any missions at all.

My plan is to blast through the main missions to get through the story. Then I’ll replay it and do the missions and the side missions and try to take my time and do some hunting and fishing etc. but if I took my time without finishing the story first, I’d never get through it. It’d take me months.

If I had to start over I’d focus on the white missions - I think there are two diameters big and small. But I’d do big first, then small, then yellow (main story missions). And investigate and question mark clouds and also talk to strangers as you come across them doing the above.

There are a couple of things I missed by not doing it that way. :(

Not even sure if I have accomplished anything yet. Basically bought some upgrades, kept my camp well, completed some side missions and a few story missions, hunted a bunch but with no actual theory (cept I got scopes and varmint rifle), my guy is under weight, sleeps 19 hrs some days, stays up for 2-3 days other times...lives off energy tonics.
    Poor guy.

That's the best part realizing you've spent 3 hours playing and all you've done is some hunting and camp chores. Definitely the only game where I've chopped wood for fun

I want to spend a week getting Arthur as fat and disgusting as possible. That sounds like time well spent.

I have not been able to get fat. No I haven't been eating incessantly every food item I get, but I eat a lot I feel like and somehow he just stays fit..

I thought he just got skinny because of

    Tuberculosis

Not because of lack of eating. I tried to get fat after I got that message by eating everything I had in my satchel. Which took a looong time. Still skinny.

Yea mine was underweight after that, but I managed to get it back to average. Just took a while since you can't eat a lot after that.

I've spent a lot of time in the saloon eating prime rib and can't seem to put the weight back on.

I think my second play through, I'm going to see how fat I can get Arthur. I plan on eating at the saloon daily and traveling by coach. I imagine being a horseman burns calories.

Anyone else find it easier to hunt from their horse? I just run down the animals, hit dead eye and bam. The deer do some awesome cart wheels if you hit em just right.

    Yeah.
This is what I do. I knock out all the whites and question marks, then do a story, and if more whites appear go do those. Taking my sweet time . . . with clothes on.

I don't want to sound like a lazy individual but my biggest complaint about the game is having to get up to grab another beer. The best was when I got back from a fishing trip, my friends aren't alcoholics so not all the beer was consumed, and set the cooler next to the recliner.

Basically this is the only game I have played in 5 or so years that isnt Destiny.
Going from a 1st person shooter, dedicated to the shooting dynamics, one complaint I have is the clunky aiming and maneuverability. Though I can fully understand why it is how it is and am adjusting fine.
I spent the first day thinking > on the D pad was how to call my horse and couldnt figure out why it only happens somtimes. Turns out I just mash the pad and 3 different things happen.
I am addicted for sure though. When I am not playing, I can only think about it.
Its amazing, Ill be playing and think "well this is getting kinda boring" and 5 hrs later I am still playing.
