Agreed...a defense to running a red light is that the offender was directed through by a police officer. I am pretty confident in saying not a prosecutor in the country would go to trial on one of these...but then again stranger things have happened. Anyways the ticket wouldn't hold up.

I've been with the 4th largest department in the nation for 14 years, the last 3 as a patrol supervisor. Quotas are illegal and if there was even an unwritten one, the 1st ones complaining and letting the media know would be the officers themselves. What most people don't realize is that an officers relationship with their department is usually not a very good one. Administratively they are at odds for many, many reasons. The last thing most officers want is to do something that monetarily benefits the city and does nothing for them.

If someone told me or any of my officers to go write tickets to generate money for the City of Houston, they would get laughed at then get a "F%@& the city!!!"..

We have a lot of red light cameras in our city. When someone gets a ticket, the excuse of "well it wasn't me" is the 1st thing to come up. If I am correct this is why these tickets are handled on a civil basis. If the owner of the vehicle doesn't pay it then fine, they won't have a warrant issued for them......but the car will not be able to be registered until the fine is paid.

Also I have had lots of people ask to see my radar after I have stopped them for speeding. On occassion I have appeased them and guess what the 1st thing they say, "that wasn't me" or "that must have been someone else". That's why I don't do it often.

    Lots of misconceptions here...

Oh yeah,.....the one question I get asked everyday. Is that a taser? Yes it is. How does it feel to get tased? I dunno. I thought you have to get tased to carry one to know how it feels? Nope, I carry a Glock 40 cal and a Sig .45 and didn't have to get shot with them to know that they can kill

Coast Guard doesn't carry Tasers....but OC Spray sucked donkey dick...And there are rules about not getting blotto drunk for at least 24 hours after you get sprayed...and I lived in base- so I had to not drink.

If you want to contest the ticket and want some information, go to www.highwayrobbery.net.

I have looked into the plate blocker years ago and through my research found that they do not work. Some of them can only block the camera flash by having a shiny coating that acts like a mirror, some of them have lines in them that you can only blocks the plate from different angles, etc...

I suggest you try to fight your ticket. That way you get a 50/50 chance that the cop don't show up.

I have also heard since the ticket is an official legal document it has to be sent to you by certified mail. If it is not certified mail you don't have to pay. Send them a picture of a check for the amount. I have had 2 speeding tickets sent to me by mail and I have not paid them and they are not on my driving record. That was 2 yrs ago. Good Luck

From what I know, it does not have to be certified but have to be sent to you within a certain amount of time by a certified company since they don't come from the police dept. The camera's are ran by a company and they have to have proper credentials in order for them to send tickets out. I'm betting if those tickets you had were legit and you haven't gotten pulled over lately then you wouldn't know that there is a warrant out for you for this tickets. I suggest you look into it.

I am applying for some state certifications and I have had numerous back ground checks done state, county and national. Nothing has come to anyones attention about outstanding warrants or tickets. I may just be lucky, I just know I am not sending a random company my hard earned money because they have a picture of me alledgellay speeding. I have other friends who have done the same thing, not send in their money and they too have been pulled over and there were no warrants for them. I'm not too sure about the exact laws but it may be something to look into to save $450.00.

Knowing the exact laws is important- There are states which the law does require delivery within a certain time by certified mail. There are others that do not.

I wouldn't go sending them back anything about it unless them come looking for the money. The other thing is- "some company" for "allegedly speeding"- you are still guilty of speeding- If you get it dismissed for an administrative reason- luck you- but you still got caught.

My understanding is that when you are out in public, no consent is needed for someone to take your picture.

If the picture is used for commercial purposes that's a different story.

Phone tapping is the recording of a conversation by an outside party, not to be confused with recording a phone call. Either party of a phone conversation can record the call without a beep or any notification to the other party. I do it all the time, for "quality assurance" reasons.

** Update ** I have a court appearance set for 09/11 , I will just ask for another extension so I can see a judge plead not guilty and get a trial date.. The way the courts have been backed up lately due to the work furloughs, I will probably end up getting a trial date sometime next year

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I would say it's backed up. It will be five months since you got the ticket by the time you get to court.
