Bought a used 2008 6MT DBL cab short bed.
Came with spacer lift front, and AAL in rear, Front diff drop, bushwhacker fenders.

Removed Mudflaps and replaced pro comp tires that wouldn't balance.

 

Replaced the cracked window guards with weather tech.
Bought a boat, The super stiff AAL in the rear is nice for towing.

Apologies for not addressing this back in 2017....

 

Bought some new wheels. Came with trash tires.

 

MT fluid change, I think i also did front and rear diff that day.

 

Wheels and tires installed.
285/75/16 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac.

 

Replaced upper and lower control arms. Getting the old ones out was a battle....

Removed the side steps. Installed 1.25" wheel spacer front and rear.

 

Where to mount the DUAL Viair 400C compressors?




Decided to mount them on the passenger side.

 

Doing a little shakedown with @Drifter2090 and his 4runner.

Suspension working well.

 

Installing an electric fan to help the AC at stop lights. I think i might have a larger AC issue....

 

DIY cab mount chop.
I cut a chunk off and welded it back on basically in the same place. I really don't know what im doing, but i got a plasma cutter and a welder so going for it.

Time to POR15 the frame.

Building Front Bumper

Day 1
- Remove OEM stuff and bolt up the first plate.

Start to build the bumper

-finish driver side wing

-Final weld the bits that get hidden by the final plate.

-Paint the hidden parts
-My heat lamp exploded

-final welding the bumper going slow so I dont warp it

- More welding
- Some grinding
- Realizing how much work this actually is going to be

- Test fitting, Needed some motivation

- More grinding on the Tacoma bumper, also started a 4runner bumper.


Day 10, 11, and 12
- Grinding welding sanding

- Paint it all very fast not waiting long enough between coats

Final product photos


About 3 weeks after it was installed i took a close look at the bumper. Its rusting through the paint in spots.
