ehh, it depends. 99-04 had Dana 50s and Dana 60s, but all parts were interchangeable when it comes to ball joints/seals/bearings (axle shafts and gears were the difference between those), the 05+ 60s have some differences over the years when it comes to the knuckles but as far as I know, that's mostly it.

Lol! I know the build date of my F250 by heart for that exact reason.

The axles and bodies are shockingly consistent on the 99+ Super Duties compared to 97-down.

Finding non-SD Dana 60’s is getting expensive...like @allenfab said, $1200 or so usually for KP 60’s that don’t steer nearly as tight as 05+ SD 60’s and are in worse shape to start with. 99-04 D60’s are a bastard child with weak unit bearings that don’t fit 35 spline axles and don’t steer tight either

If @rngr is livin hood rich on a tax return and stimulus check, then I’d consider a 9” or 9.5” center housing with D60 outers. Max ground clearance and all the strength and turning radius in one package.

    Yeah I know it’s a bastard child but he’ll never hurt it on 37’s with a 3RZ

Or go crazy and do a ford 9" front and rear!!!!
You could easily run a 9" with chromoly shafts and be fine with your light rig and 35s, 37s or 40s. Still have a removable third, and parts are available everywhere. Also pretty easy to make them a 6x5.5

Of course I say that and on my mini im doing a king pin front and 14 bolt rear.

Also if you want to wheel hard then 40s are definitely needed because the pumpkins become land anchors. Truthfully I think your truck on 34 bias play has more ground clearance than a 1 ton and 37 radials

Ford 9" seems like the biggest ripoffs in axles. All I hear is how cheap you can find them, then a meer $3500 later in aftermarket parts they are strong enough to wheel.

Not arguing with you there... but they are an option. Another option is tons and portals!!! Then you have all the ground clearance.

Ok, so let me get this all straight...

toyota axles are cheapish and easyish. Maintain Toy-bro status. Get raped buying toyota oem parts. Good enough for 37s but not so much for 40s.

Tons are handy because parts are everywhere. Massive pumpkin that will serve as a great rock anchor with 37s. Run 40s to combat that. Cases may or may not handle 40s. 3rz pushing 40s...

Basically, pick you camp and deal with the associated problems. How’d I do?

The other benefit of heavy ass one tons is stability. I wouldn't call toyota axles cheapish. As mfrs drop out and consolidate, the parts will only get more expensive.

I did a ghost edit on you!

I will tell you building a low rider does kind of suck. I was all excited that I am only sitting 2" above where I was IFS until I went wheeling. Then again it is nice jot shaveing an attention grabbing truck when out tooling around. I just look like a methhead instead of driving around a truggy.

If marks cases holding up on a 2nd gen and 40s with loads of skinny peddle. Your truck will be fine with 40s and crawlbox.

Yea he wont break shit with a 4banger, that's also why he should wheel it for a while as is, he will learn what the crawl box can and cant do and less likely to break shit when he upgrades.

Mark may not be the best yardstick for reliability, I think he has broken evreytime i wheeled with him LOL!!!

But then there’s the whole thing of getting the 3rz to push 40s down the road. Haha.

With tons it will go faster because you wont have to carry a shit load of spare toyota parts that you cant find anywhere with you.

Maybe get some light 38s, I know this is blasphemy for you guys south of the ohio river, but not everyone needs bias play swampers on some homemade beadlocks.
