Verify this in the wireing diagram in the FSM first! I wired my add to a switch, you do this by popping off both shift boots and when you are looking down at the top of the tcase you will see two plugs, one on each side of the top of the case, with wires coming out of them. You want the one that controls the add system (that's where the FSM comes in). Cut the wires off the plug, splice in some extra length and hook then up to a switch. Pretty easy. I didn't fuck around with wireing harnesses and modules like the TTORA link has you doing.

Yes I had a jshift. I actually had to do this mod when I swapped in the lefty.

This is where twin sticks come into play as well...nice to throw a lever, make the turn and re-engage.

Been there, did that. Would still reccommend the twin stick to anyone with a lunch box style front locker.
Also, need to be stopped to re-engage (don't forget a momentary switch so you dont burn up the motor as well). No synchro for the ADD diff fork to slide over. Most of your t-cases besides (factory manual hubs/ j shift) have this synchro so you can maintain moment and still engage.

Both together make it close to the ARB.........well almost:rolleyes:

I'm pretty sure I wired mine differently than you did. I do engage and disengage at slow speeds with the clutch in, going straight and haven't had an issue yet. If my switch is in the on position and I shift from 2wd to 4 the ADD acts as it usually would.

Should have let you all know what I ended up deciding.

    Drumroll, please...

35s will be on hold for a bit. Going to save up and put an ARB in the front. Then, I’ll make the move up in tires.

My goal here isn’t to see how fast I can get this thing double locked on big tires. It is to end up with exactly what I want, and something I’ll be happy with, while having as much fun as I can with it along the way.

I know I’ll be much happier with a selectable front. Sincerely appreciate everyone’s input along the way.

    Now that you’re here...

Not sure if I ever told you I ended up going to 5.29 over 4.88. You were right, it’s awesome. As long as you don’t mind your top speed being 70. Haha

It actually @ToyRyd04 old diff. I did just help my roommate install one in his 3rd gen 4runner. Hasn't been set back on its feet yet but install seemed pretty easy.

I like the fact that it does ratchet and allows you to still turn most of the time. I don't have experience with a selectable in the front but I'd imagine it would be near impossible to turn on slick rock.

Got me curious...? Did you wire directly to ADD motor, or use with the t-case position sensor?

Well if you're ever tired of screaming down the highway I've got some 4.88s I'll trade ya:D I'm really hoping a small turbo helps me.

I just interrupted the signal to the ADD so when the switch is off the ADD doesn't know it's supposed to change positions.

Doubtful. No worries though. Don’t even need 4wd for lbl. Haha.
Negative. But I’d imagine they’d be pretty easy to sell on here.

I wouldn't be able to sell them to cover half the cost of another regear and arb. I think trading is the only way it would be worth regearing again to me.
