The NY auto show is next week. I think that is the last show of the season and last chance for a big debut if there is a all new 2012.

With gas prices continuing to climb it seems prudent of Toyota to update the 2.7 liter 4 cylinder along with its’ ancient 4 speed auto transmission. If they could update the 2.7 to be direct injected and dual VVT-I and pair it with a 6 speed auto the fuel economy would increase substantially while improving performance.

Toyota has announced that it will be using direct injection and turbo charging in the near future. I just hope the near future for direct injection is the 2012 Tacoma.

Some automotive manufactures such as GM, Ford & Hyundai are already producing direct injection motors.
