Definitely Honda's have a higher price tag in general. My thinking is that if the RL were 10 grand cheaper it would sell like crazy. All this crying over percentages of needs and not a real truck stuff is just internet fodder giving people something to argue about.

Do you mean to tell me there are no 350# women in Southern Ohio who are not able to hook up with someone? I’ll bet there are more of them than 120# Barbie clones.

All those are RWD. The SSR was poorly marketed and suffered from being underpowered until 2005. Then it was a respectable road-burner of a truck, but apparently no one thought that was something they needed. Also styling was about a decade old. Also really expensive at $43K in ‘05.

    https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a18201910/chevrolet-ssr-short-take-road-test/

BTW we have a Chrysler Rampage in our neighborhood. A bit of a rustbucket but kind of cool looking.

IDK about the Nickelback comparison. They have sold a lot of records and concert tickets. I would say maybe Drive-By Truckers...should be much more popular than they are.

I agree 100%. When I become a father (whenever that is in my life) I would definitely be interested in look at another option of vehicle, purely for more room interior wise, and creature comforts. The RL would likely be in the running when that time comes.

I would still keep my Taco, as in September it will be paid off. My wife is also about to trade in her Corolla for a 4Runner, so perhaps we won’t need another vehicle. But if we do, again the RL would be a contender.

I never claimed the others mentioned weren’t RWD purely that people love mini trucks which are “full time AWD” and then hate on the RL because it’s also “full time AWD”. I feel the Nickleback comparison is beyond valid, I wasn’t referring to the bands financial status, or how often they sell out venues, I was merely referencing to the fact that it’s been a trend for the past 20+ years to hate them for no reason.

90% of the people around here are afraid to admit that the Ridgeline is more than enough "truck" to do what they use a truck for on a daily basis.

On a personal note....the RL would do everything I typically use a truck for. My neighbor has one. We both go to Lowes, buy lumber, mulch, flowers, help friends move things, haul stuff home, etc., etc.

And his tiny little wife probably doesn't bitch about having to climb up in it as much as mine does.

Good example of people buying horribly ugly vehicles! I think the lack of sales of the RL is not about capabilities but instead looks and high price, there are just better options to pick from at that price level.

Yeah, I think there's a difference in a purposely ugly vehicle too, one with a niche. I've always wanted a Subaru Brat for that reason, also to embarrass my wife.

I think Walter White did more for the Aztec than any other form of advertisement or promotion could have.

Having owned both (1st gen 08' Ridgeline and 09' Taco), I would go for the Ridgeline hands down. Towing is what it is, it's a V6. I don't think any of them "like it", but they'll both do it. For what you're doing, you'll love it. The in bed trunk is ingenious, and the rear independent suspension rides amazing, with surprisingly little to no squat under load. And Hondas hold their values very well (like most japanese manufacturers). IMO, you won't be disappointed if you choose the Honda. Good luck with your research, and decision!

I have a 2020 RTL-E AWD. Leased for $417 no down. LOVE it. I had a 2016 Tacoma with various issues, Sold it and bought the new Ranger. NIce but I wanted a less bouncy ride...Enter the Ridgeline PERFECT truck for me. Love all the features not found on my truck especially a Body on frame truck. I like the new design and might trade for one as Carvana offered to buy my 2020 at $2200 over the buy-out price.....$39272 Buy 0ut $36980....Probably going to lease a new one in silver.

If your "4 wheeling" is kept to muddy dirt roads at worse, there isn't a better truck. And yes it is a truck...Just ask the witnesses to see one get away in a bank heist what they describe....99% will say it was a (insert color) Truck The 1% would be Tacoma owners LOL

    THIS!!!!

That's exactly what I was thinking. In the 60's a "real truck" was more like a farm implement made to move you, your dog and all the hay you could put in it, and nothing else. Their GVWR was also about 2x their curb weight.

I would not call a Tacoma a "real truck," because it sucks for towing and hauling. It's more like a cross between a Jeep and truck. My work truck, an F350 weighing in at 9k, would be a "real truck," but it cannot go where the Taco because of weight alone.

Who needs the capability that the Tacoma provides? It's really a middle of the road compromise kind of vehicle. A (roughly) Jeep sized truck that is not as agile as a Jeep or can tow/haul as much as a truck. It's really only good for getting to your campsite of fishing spot for a long weekend. For every other job, there seems to be a better option. The Ridgeline might be the better option if your campsite or fishing spot is down a well worn fire road and you commute a lot, too.

Why would you even try to off road a mini van? Seems the more logical thing is to off road in an off road type vehicle.

If it makes you feel better, go ahead and call the RL a minivan or not a real truck. Makes no difference.

Because the truck does well off road....NOT rock climbing or Mudding but off road is no problem for me even on muddy dirt roads. AWD does the job. I can go everywhere my Tacoma and Ranger took me but with a much better ride and a host of options not available on any compact body on frame truck.

The Ridgeline even won Baja 1000 9 times Not bad for a unibody. It also has 20 times the torsional rigidity as a conventional body-on-frame truck

Was just at a Honda dealer this morning. With the chip shortage, the plant shut down for two weeks, they had 2 sport trim RL's on the lot. They said they had 3 RL's coming but are already sold. The sales person said they are not discounting the RL's at this time.

I am in no hurry so I will let the supply catch up. This fall I will take a hard look at the RL.

The type of driving you described is the worse I would do. It is off road but not hard core off road. I am convinced the RL is going to meet my needs just fine.
