New Turbo 4cyl in the 2023 Highlander...almost 20% higher torque but 10 less HP rating than the current V6 Tacoma engine.... this may be the engine coming to the Tacoma?

    A few.
Might be. The exra torque would be welcomed. If they are going to offer a turbo V6 also as an option, I guessing it wont be the 3.5 from the Tundra but a smaller V6 somewhere between 2.7L - 3.2L

A turbo would be nice at elevation, my 2.7 runs out of steam in the mountains.

That sounds pretty good to me, would cure the soft bottom end with the current engines.

Seriously considered a Ranger, felt it would pull a camper trailer better than the Tacoma, but couldn’t bring myself to buy a Ford when it came down to it.

Maybe you didn’t notice the crappy gas mileage.

Definitely won't see any V6, it's going to be a Turbo 4 and a Hybrid.

I wonder how much R&D they did with the turbos on the new Tundra.

The Highlander, which could be the forthcoming Tacoma and 4Runner engine.

24 combined isn’t too bad. Maybe the hybrid will be closer to 30.

The Ford eco boost were anything but, did increase low end torque. Which is arguably one of the biggest complaints about the Tacoma.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate all the knowledge you bring to these forums!

I am really looking forward to the next gen tacoma. I just can't stand prices getting out of hand. If toyota offers a v6 twin turbo option which you say is possible I'm sure it would be on like trd pro trim only. I wouldn't be surprised if the trd pro price sky rockets similar to raptor territory.

I wish I did what you did for a living! I may send you a message as I'm curious to your thoughts on some things.

I tried contacting Toyota to see if there was going to be an interest list with deposit on the new EV Tacoma...what an adventure!

The new tundra is rated at 18/24 est mpg. The tacoma is rated at 18/22 est mpg. I'm just looking at toyotas website when you click on trucks. (Before actually selecting the tundra or tacoma)

You would hope the next gen tacoma has more mpg than that.
