    A few.
The problem is, where does the room come from? U cant go any shorter then the 5ft bed. Do u shorten the front end? If the cab is made much longer the overall length starts heading towards the longbed version. Any additional room will likely be an inch or less unless they found a way of making better use of the current interior dimensions of the cab shell.

I could live out of the back of a Crew Max, lol!

Also why I drive an access cab, don’t want to haul people. It is great for a duffle bag and some bags of groceries. We don’t have any kids either, so back seat legroom isn’t real high on the list. The wife has a Trooper, back seats stay folded down 99% of the time…can’t even remember the last time we had extra passengers.

I agree, I guess that's why the engineers/designers get paid the big bucks.

The problem now is the front end has to be longer having to do with crash safety or something.

    "Inspired by the Tundra."

No thanks. That thing is hideous in pictures, and hideous in person. Toyota has the worst styling of ALL the major manufacturers. Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Chevy, and Mazda all do it better across the board.

Throw in turbo chargers and two more gears? Let's just say I hope mine lasts me a while. No active fuel management. No idle stop. The era of the gas burner is dying, and the federal government brought it about.

My SR has a v6. And 4wd. Don't have to go SR5 for that. Plenty of SR5s are two wheel drive, too. You can get a 2wd in the Sport, TRD Off Road, and Limited trims as well. Modern "prerunners" indeed.

Point is you can get the good bits on the SR too.

My 2019 still has sub 30k miles on it so I'm in no hurry to upgrade - especially with supply problems. But i cant believe my truck doesnt have some basic stuff like auto headlights, apple car play, etc.

There is either some cease and desist business happening in this thread or I haven't been very sensible on my part, no ifs and buts about it. Not gonna name names, but watch out everyone in terms of the big T. I hope no one is being watched, because...:anonymous:

It's why I no longer comment on Ford products anymore.

In the last year of a given model line Mfger's often update features or give a facelift to keep buyer's interest before introducing the new model.

Yeah, when you start seeing the "SE" models with weird mixes of options, you know a facelift or new model is on the way soon. :)

Does anybody *really* think we'll see the Gen 4 this year?

I feel like we're at LEAST a full year early.

Agreed. Not counting on it. Curious to see the specs though.

Toyota already released the details for the 2023 Tacoma and its basically the same as 2022, so 2024 will be the 4th Gen.

I dont think its guaranteed that the 4th gen will come in 2024. The pandemic and supply issues smacked all the manufactures in the butt and they have not yet recovered. They will have to completly revamp the manufacturing/employee/materials/vendor/supply processes at the one plant that now produces Tacomas which is large hill on its own. Gas prices may affect their shorter term plans and they know they can continue to sell the current Tacoma to us people anyway.
