    the body of the hood strut will rub against the bolt.. tearing up the finish. I had to relocate my aftermarket fuse box and paint the hoodstrut so it wont rust

    yes your mouting points closest to the windshield are where the redline brackets go. If you know how to do the measurements right, you might be able to shift the entire setup a few inches forwards. I've seen other install them reverse where the hood mounts are closer to the windshield and body mounts are closer to the front of the truck. I just installed mine today. Instructions aren't that intuitive as each step is lettered and pictures are numbered. But pretty simple. I used a a cheap rivet gun from harbor freight.
