I have it on my '17, :) I would have thought it was on the hood too but nope! It will be as soon as I get time for the install.

July 4th is just around the corner, if I really like mine after the install I will be adding them to my wife's RAV4.

So I wanted to install but the first step of the instructions doesn't work.

It says the bracket should span the crush rib but the 16" measurement is way lower than the crush rib.

    09 Tacoma.

Please advise. I mount higher or 16" and it will sit below the rib?

Since you have the hood marked, you could measure and mark where the fender bracket goes then do a rough test by holding one of the struts in place. Hell, you could probably use some duct tape and tape the brackets in place and then do the test fit.

    :notsure:

Also tagging @RedlineTuning might get their attention faster to get the facts straight from the horses mouth. Unless someone else with an 09' can answer.

Your measurement looks good, the bracket sits below the crush rib:

    Ah great,

the instructions says it should cover the crush rib and refers to the picture at the end of the instructions, which shows the plate over the rib.

I might try it tomorrow otherwise next Saturday. The kit looks well made!

Yes, the hoods are slightly different for 2005-2012 and the 2013-2015 Tacoma due to Toyota moving the crush rib. That's why the measurement for the 2005-2012 hood bracket is 16" and the 2013-2015 is 16 1/4".

Installed mine yesterday, took me about an hour, no problems I just went super slow to be sure it was right. I decided to leave my existing hood rod in place just in case I had to use it in some type of emergency. It's not in the way at all.

@RedlineTuning - Some product feedback would be to include a cut out type template for the 1-3/4 inch measurement. its a bit of a struggle getting the measurement just right because the tape measure is just floating.

    just a thought

Good idea Paint pig. I used a torpedo level but that was still a bit of a hassle.

At first I wondered if the measurement was along the underside of the hood, and we were supposed to use a soft tape but ultimately I used one of these:

    Made it so much easier.

    These are cheap enough: [IMG]
