Just ordered my kit, can't wait to get it on since the 3rd gen hood is a lot heavier than the 2nd gen! Thanks @RedlineTuning and Andrea's for great products and super easy install instructions!

With the Redline kit the hood weight won't be a problem! It does a great job of lifting the hood. Once you lift the hood a few inches the struts will take it the rest of the way. Then as the hood reaches the end of the range of motion the struts are damped to slow motion. It's a real cool mechanical action to watch. If I had four hands I'd give them four thumbs up.

Nice product...But can you explain why 2 struts and few brackets would cost $120.00..New too Tacoma didn't realize there was a "taco tax"..like in the Vette world an OEM color matched license plate frames cost 100 bills.......GLWS

Kinda "spensive" if you are in Canada... with the half dead Loonie..!

I can still lift the hood... Nice looking product though.

I don't feel competent to drill holes in my brand new truck. How can I find a shop that can install these properly for me?

The taco doesn't have gas struts from the factory?

My base model 2002 Camry has gas struts from the factory. I'm surprised that's not standard on all cars.

Lol, I said the exact thing because I also have a 2009 Camry that came with them from the factory.

Don't worry, $60k Shelby's don't come with them either, so at least the Tacoma has some impressive company in the hood-prop club.

I don't have any images of the lower mount up close - it is covered up by the trim piece... however, here is a picture from the installation manual that shows how the bracket overhangs the inner fender prior to being covered up.

Does the kit provide a template or specific measurements for drilling the holes?
I am interested in ordering a set as soon as I get my truck!
Should be delivered between now and next Tuesday, so excited!

Yes, we include a full color instruction manual along with all the required mounting hardware and gas springs. The manual can be downloaded directly from our website here: http://www.redlinetuning.com/v/vspfiles/templates/Redline/images/21-27015.pdf
