    Great idea!

Question, do they have to be installed cylinder up? If it's a design/functional thing then IIWII, if not I'd much prefer to install them piston up, it just looks better IMO.

How is the head room when standing on flat ground, bent in looking at the engine bay from the front and the sides?

The pics kind of make it look like it does not open as much as the oem hood stand.

Looking at the strut geometry on my truck I don't see why not.
They open the hood just fine and there's plenty of head and shoulder room.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
@MADSTEEZE if you haven't seen these yet, here they are!

The struts should be installed as shown - large housing on top... the reason behind this is based on the function of the gas spring. There is oil inside and when they lift the hood open, the large housing is on top, thus lubricating the extending strut. The oil also serves to act as the slow release mechanism for the final inch or so of opening - so, when you open your hood, the struts will slow down at the very top to avoid abrupt stop. When you reverse the struts, they dry out, make noise when opening as well as lose the ability to have the slow release when opening...

Then cylinder up is dictated by design and proper function, not a problem, IIWII.

While I'd prefer the looks of piston up it certainly won't prevent me from purchasing the kit! Thank you!! Is the free shipping coupon code "TacomaWorld" still valid?

The Elite has 316L stainless hood struts in place of the black struts in the PLUS package.

I bought a generic pop rivet gun at Home Depot for less than $10.

No problem. Remember if you've never used a pop rivet gun you need to pump the handle at least twice to get the shaft to seat then break.

It's probably been answered, but is the difference in the black kit and stainless kit just the materials/looks? Or do the stainless kits have a longer lifespan or more heavy duty? Thanks.
