I bought a set for my 2015 tacoma and never had a chance to install it before I sold my truck. Now, don't know what to do with it.

    Back from the dead!

I got a chance to install these yesterday. They're great. I wanted to post here to give a few small tips on the install.

    1. Use one of these stepped drill bits.
It allows the bit to carefully move through the hood without risk of accidentally plunging through the top. It also cleans the edges of the hole of most of the swarfs that are otherwise left by a regular bit.

    2. Use a quality rivet gun. I went the cheap route and tried to use one of these $10 Stanley jobs. It was hell. The stems kept getting stuck in the gun and these rivets require quite a bit of leverage to get the stem to break. I did get it to work but it would have been well worth it to buy a better gun.

Love the Props on my truck. Excellent product.
I used the proper sized bit for the rivets and just wrapped a bunch of wraps of electrical tape as a depth stopper around the bit. Leaving only a 1/4 to 3/8's of the cutting end of the bit exposed.

Yeah, I just made this mistake as well. I bought the exact same riveter you used and wish I'd paid the extra cash for a quality one instead.

Other than that though, these struts are awesome and well worth the $!

Since its been over a year since this release, are you going to offer a group buy to purchase these lifts, "tacomaworld" coupon is fine an all for the CONUS, but doesnt help us folks in Hawaii, unless you extend the free shipping to us also. Thanks!

I would be happy if you would include Hawaii in the free shipping promo via USPS. Would you consider it? Thanks!

I was on the fence also about installing them and concerned about drilling the holes. I decided to bite the bullet and do it. I am actually very glad I did. The hood on these trucks are alot heaver then other vehicles I have owned and since the truck is taller, it seemed like it took more effort to lift it and place the rod in place. Now with the struts, the hood opens effortly and closed with no problem. I did put some touch up paint in the drilled holes before putting on the rivets, but since the hole was tight, it scraped some of the touch up paint off. I just bought some WD-40 Rust inhibitor spray (much thicker than the reg WD-40) from Home Depot and sprayed a good amount under the mounting brackets on the hood and fender. I will just re-spray every couple months or so to keep it from rusting.

Like him I used a rust inhibitor on the freshly drilled holes for the rivets. I used Rustoleum black paint on the holes (with a q-tip) and sprayed on the rivet itself prior to fastening. This is a great mod and I have absolutely no regrets doing it.
