No, they ship from us - contact us directly unless you want your order information posted on the internet. We don't check this forum every day and it is tough to see important questions like this unless they come to us.

    Thank you

Received my elite struts yesterday. Very nice quality and can't wait to get them on this week!

Barely had a chance to look at them but I'm assuming they are locked in compressed mode?
    They looked rather short.

Nope. Gas springs are extended unless installed and under force to compress them. Once you get the hardware installed, just snap on the gas springs and it will work like a charm.

Can anyone answer as to the height of the hood in the open position? I intended to order a set couple of years ago then was warned that they caused the hood to be set at @ higher height than stock, when in the opened position. being somewhat vertically challenged (5'8") and my truck is lifted, I'm forced to stand on my tiptoes briefly to close the hood now, lol.
If greater than stock height, will they allow the hood to remain opened w/out being fully extended? Any and all input appreciated :D

Got mine yesterday and will probably install this weekend. Maybe my expectations are too high but the shipping of almost $15 seems steep considering I ordered on 3-25 and recieved on 4-2. Seems like a good product so far though.

In almost every case, we design the system to lift to near stock height - generally within an inch. However, you can also change the open height when installing the system on this vehicle. You can't make it lift higher than we show, but you can reduce the overall lifting height. This can be done by installing the hood brackets further up the hood.

First, mount the lower brackets and attach the gas springs. Then, holding the bracket in place on the hood, bring the gas spring up to see where it reaches the ball-stud - this is the open height position as the gas spring is fully extended. As long as you chose a location 'further' up the hood, closer to the front of the vehicle, the hood will close like normal. Moving the position down the hood toward the hinge will end up with the gas spring bottoming out and the hood will not close.

Match both sides so hood raises evenly... Moving the position forward a couple of inches will drop the open height quite a bit. Before installing, tape bracket into place - lower the hood and then be sure that your new bracket location allows for a clear path between both ball-studs in the closed position - you can view down the path on each side with the hood raised a couple of inches above closed position.

Any other questions about this, just let us know.

Got mine today, 30 minutes later I was done. Thanks for the great deal. I have to say that this is one of those must have Mods for anyone that does their own work on the engine.

Major trouble installing mine on a 1st gen.
When the angled hood bracket is installed at 14 5/8 (or anywhere close to that)
The ball on the bracket is no where near horizontal.

Any 1st gens have this problem?

    Does this look normal?

    bhy36c_31f116467c7b03fab6f2181108a5cc7a380d1ded.jpg

And here is the Passenger side NOT mounted. Both sides of the bracket are sitting flush.

If the measurement listed is correct, everything else is correct. The base of the bracket sits flat against the hood's frame, and on the 95-04 Tacoma, the ball-stud aims inward toward the engine (on an angle) on both sides.

Mount it up as shown in the manual - 14-5/8" from the top of the hood's hinge assembly to the lower edge of the bracket on the hood...
