Please flip the gas springs around and mount them shaft side down. There is oil inside the gas spring that lubricates the seal and if they are not mounted correctly the seal will dry out and the gas spring will fail prematurely. Plus the end of stroke dampening doesn't work correctly if they are mounted upside down.

Thanks everyone for your purchases! :)

Funny you mention that because I did underhood lighting & that was my motivating factor to go ahead and do the hood struts too. Mine will be here any day now. Funny how that works. :D

Drill 4 tiny holes and use 4 rivets. Drill 4 tiny holes and use four self drilling screws. All hardware supplied. Its not to bad, you will need a drill and rivet gun though

You'd need to aquire 4 more screw than come in the kit if you wanted to do that. I don't know if they would recommend that or not. I know i'd rather not use rivets

There's a reason rivets are used. They're more stable and solid than a screw would be in this situation. There's a lot of weight/torque/force being applied to a small area and a screw wouldn't hold for very long. Rivets were created for exactly this purpose.
