So I accidentally redlined my 08 Tacoma to avoid an accident in 1st gear. With the scenerio, I didn't have the time to shift as there were other things retaining my attention....

Newayz, since the gears are so short, I redlined it and the truck and stick shook violently.. It was crazy, the stick shift seemed like it was ready to break off and fly out the window... I clutched in ASAP and drove home normally, seems fine but do you guys think I may have damaged something or is there anything I need to check..

    Thanks....

    PS. I hate other drivers.....

    She's gone but not forgotten.
i think (but not sure) OBDII includes an "engine over-rpm" code. not sure if it sets the CEL though.

Im sure your fine. I have zinged mine a few times by missing a gear and going into the wrong one. Just dont make a habbit of it.

I would assume that you were bouncing off the rev-limiter.I'd say everythings OK but like Chris says, don't make a habit of it,it makes them unhappy.....Glad you were able to stay out of trouble.

Cool, thanks... peace of mind is good, I never ever ever redlined any of my vehicles, sure I took it to the red but never above and beyond.

The taco sure didn't like it, if it had an ejector seat, I think it would have spit me out....

I've red lined mine a few times and it hits the rev limiter. They rev up so nicely, if you're not paying attention, it's easy to do. Mine runs just fine. I don't think you should have any worries.

5500. I ran my 2.7 right on the limiter numerous times with no issues. :D
