Those who installed the airbags- did you install yourself? and if yes was it easy?

Installing the bags was easy. The hardest part was reaching one nut that goes behind the fuel tank. For me, installing the self leveling kit was worth the money. Not having to adjust the bags for trailer load or just filling the bed with river rock was nice. Having the compressor kick on and scare people walking by is just a plus.

It was easy. Drop the spare out and you have more room for activities.

But in all seriousness, you just need manly leaf springs. Not the stock poopoo ones.

I agree the airbags are another option but I felt like that they added several new items to your truck.

    Airbag option: $300(airbags) + $400(compressor and other add-ons)
Adds a ton of items to your truck and I have heard you can not do a lift with airbags

Replace all suspension : $1200 old man emu kit

Sumo Springs: $200 and can be used with a lift kit.

I choose the Sumo Springs as I feel like its a great way to use the truck and enjoy camping.

My biggest problem is range can only go about ~160 miles before empty. The solution to this is a new truck unless a larger tank for the Tacoma becomes available.

I think that is debatable, multi leafs are pretty smooth. I've read pros/complaints of both sides here on TW but leafs, IMHO, are easier/simpler.

If it’s sits level when empty and it squats when under a load throw some firestone airbags in and call it a day.

I also have a 2” AAL from wheelers and have a camper shell on my truck 100% of the time. People say the single leafs are to stiff and blah blah blah. After putting the AAL in it feels less bouncy and more stable compared to the crappy Toyota leafs.

I can get one later tonight and I'll type up how I hook it up.

I had less than 1" of squat with the stock springs when the WD hitch was hooked up. I am running Dakars now and they have worked great for me.

I hitch up, run the jack down until I can hook the 5th link from the end on the round bar chain to the brackets on the trailer frame.

When I was running stock rear springs I would hook the chain on the 6th link from the end and it would sit level but I had to nearly lift the rear tires off the ground with the tongue jack to do that.

Here's my hitch. I have a longer than usual drop on it now because of the high clearance rear bumper.
