I loaned my truck out recently, and my brother left some tools on the leather seats. In the heat, it seems to have taken the finish off where it was laying. Question is...can this be refinished?

Sounds like you are owed a new truck.

In my area there is a company called Vinyl Craft that could fix . But I am not sure where you are. Maybe check around for an interior custom fab company. Ask some shops in the area if they know of anyone. Bad thing is it is on the seat, so greater change for uneven wear or failure.

Can it be fixed. Yes and no. There are shoe products. There is also leather dye. There is Lexol. There are seat covers. Consultant a professional and see what they say.

Clean that up with some warm water and Dawn first. Then beat your douche brother.

He got off easy. There was another thread a few years ago of another brother who returned his brothers truck after he cleaned it. Thread was titled something about "How to dry out a truck interior." His brother cleaned the muddy interior with a garden hose.

    That sucks.

I'm so thankful I learned my lesson the easy way. There was a college canoe trip, good classmate borrowed the gf's Exploder while we took my truck to the launch point. That damn mooch returned the truck on an empty tank and with muddied up floor mats, but that was it. To a college kid, a tank of gas meant not going out for a week.

But after thinking about it I realized it could have been so much worse.

From then on it was either "let me come with, I'll drive and help you move it" or "here's the number to Avis."

Take it to an upholstery shop have it fixed and give your brother the bill . He can pay to repair bill for
Not giving a shit about your truck .

I appreciate the suggestions. I didn't make this post to slander/ knock him down. He's an incredibly busy person whom I am loaning the truck until his new Tundra shows up. He's building a pole barn, hence all of the tools. I just borrowed back my truck for a couple days to move some stuff on my trailer. He has already said he will have it professionally detailed and ceramic coated on return. I was just worried about the surface damage. If an upholstery shop can't fix, then maybe I'll replace the cover?

Either way, at the end of the day it is something that can be fixed/replaced. Crap happens, and he didn't know about it until I lifted up the level.

Well that's no fun. Somebody in this story needs to be a complete shitweasel so the rest of us can feel better about ourselves.

Give it a good clean, I bet most of it will come out. Sorry about your perfectly normal and upstanding brother.

Looks scratched but you really won’t know until you clean it up. Recommend you fold your seats down into cargo mode or cover them fast with carhartt covers or something.

I think you can clean that up, odds are better than if it were cloth.

I loved my manual transmission cars for over 30+ years because every time someone wanted to 'borrow' it they
said oh wait I can't drive that thing...

After 30+ years of shifting I was ready for a change and am happy with the automatic transmission and not worrying about
slow and go traffic and constantly clutching... but no... you can NOT borrow my truck. Ain't gonna happen. Don't ask again.

you’ve got a great attitude! We’ve all royal F’d something up of someone else’s and had that sickening feeling, and to have them stay calm and work with you is a true friend/family.

Only reason I joined. All my other friends abandoned me years ago.

PS. You can buy the seat leather, but crazy expensive. Like probably 1k or more depending if they sell just the cover or entire assembly due to sensors in the seat.

OR bring it back to the dealer under warranty and say a shit weasel was in your truck and ask if you are covered.

Honestly, try a magic eraser. I took some paint off my seat with it, and it softened up the leather so did all the leather. Then I used a good leather conditioner from the locks western wear shop.
