Forgive me if this topic has been discussed elsewhere, but I have a rather irritating issue with my 2021 Taco Limited. It seems that every time I fill up, the pump's auto-shutoff doesn't trigger until gas is already coming out from the filler and runs down the side of my fender. This happens at any gas station I go to, so it's unlikely it's a pump issue. I have been somewhat successful in shutting the gas off in time by listening to the pitch of the air coming out of the tube, but in a busy/loud location, this isn't practical. Is this a common issue and is there a solution if so?

    Thanks!

Not normal, there is a line that runs from the gas tank to the filler neck. This allows the tank to burp because the air in the tank is being displaced by the fuel. It is either kinked or clogged. But like a previous post said, take it to the dealership, it should be covered under warranty

something's amiss. Take it in, and don't take "it's normal" for an answer.

Till then... I would avoid topping off.

    And Welcome aboard!

Definitely not right unless it only happens at that single gas pump. It should click off when full. You never want to overfill your truck. Sounds like a trip back to the shop.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Never had this problem with my '21 TRD.
Since it happens to you at every gas station, the problem is either related to your truck OR to how you're positioning the nozzle in the filler tube.

Not topping off at all. By the time the auto-shutoff triggers, it's too late.

I've been pumping gas for nearly 40 years and I have never seen anything like this.

Take it to Toyota. Until then, don’t use the auto stop capability of the pumps. Manually fill to a conservative amount of fuel.

Pretty sure this issue has been reported here a few times by others and required some sort of repair.

Agree with everyone else, not normal. Get it to the dealer.

My vote is also to take it into the dealership. Absolutely not normal and possibly dangerous too.

If you top it off to the point where its spilling out, you can end up getting some liquid fuel going where the vapors are supposed to go. This would be the charcoal canister. I would just bring that pup to the dealer. It's not common, just a pain in the ass to have to go back to the dealer.

Bring in for warranty work. Also tell them to inspect the Evap canister as overfilling the tank will eventually damage the canister. Push for that replacement if possible.
